DISCUSSION OF THE PROCESS BY WHICH THE BOARD WILL CONDUCT INTERVIEWS
OF CANDIDATES FOR THE POSITION OF TDPUD DIRECTOR; POSSIBLE ACTION
There was some discussion and the Board established an interview process. Each candidate
will be asked to bring a background resume, including a description of involvement in the
Truckee community as well as a statement of interest in the Director position. The Board would
like each person to make a presentation at the meeting addressing some or all of the following
critical issues facing the District:
• Water Department operation, water conservation, flat rate versus metered billing and
developers paying their own way versus rate-payer subsidizing development.
• Electric industry restructuring, competition, conservation and green power issues.
• TDPUD involvement in broadband, telecommunications, fiber optic infrastructure issues.
• Consolidation or reorganization of the District with other local agencies.
• The role of the District in growth, planning and service delivery in the community.
The order of the presentations will be determined by a random drawing of names and the Di-
rectors may ask follow-up or additional questions during the interviews. District staff will make
themselves available to the candidates to answer questions and provide documents for review.
Candidates will be provided with copies of the 2000 budget, the 1998 audit report, strategic
plan, telecommunications business case analysis and expanded services study.
