HomeMy WebLinkAbout2000-06-02 Min - Board SPECIAL MEETING June 2, 2000 In accordance with District Code Section 2.08.010, the TDPUD minutes are action only minutes. All Board meetings are recorded on audio tapes which are preserved perpetu- ally and made available for listening to any interested party upon their request. The special meeting of the Board of Directors of the Truckee Donner Public Utility District was called to order at approximately 4:10 PM in the TDPUD Board room by President Hemig. ROLL CALL: Directors Joe Aguera, Bob Jones, James Maass and Ron Hemig were present. Director Patricia Sutton was absent. EMPLOYEES PRESENT: Peter Holzmeister. CONSULTANTS PRESENT: Counsel Steve Gross. OTHERS PRESENT: Patrick McDonough. PUBLIC INPUT Mr. McDonough explained that he is interested in becoming a member of the Board, but will be unable to attend the meeting at which interviews will be held on June 7 because of a prior com- mitment. DISCUSSION OF THE PROCESS BY WHICH THE BOARD WILL CONDUCT INTERVIEWS OF CANDIDATES FOR THE POSITION OF TDPUD DIRECTOR; POSSIBLE ACTION There was some discussion and the Board established an interview process. Each candidate will be asked to bring a background resume, including a description of involvement in the Truckee community as well as a statement of interest in the Director position. The Board would like each person to make a presentation at the meeting addressing some or all of the following critical issues facing the District: • Water Department operation, water conservation, flat rate versus metered billing and developers paying their own way versus rate-payer subsidizing development. • Electric industry restructuring, competition, conservation and green power issues. • TDPUD involvement in broadband, telecommunications, fiber optic infrastructure issues. • Consolidation or reorganization of the District with other local agencies. • The role of the District in growth, planning and service delivery in the community. The order of the presentations will be determined by a random drawing of names and the Di- rectors may ask follow-up or additional questions during the interviews. District staff will make themselves available to the candidates to answer questions and provide documents for review. Candidates will be provided with copies of the 2000 budget, the 1998 audit report, strategic plan, telecommunications business case analysis and expanded services study. 6/2/00 Page 1 ADJOURNMENT There being no further business before the Board, the meeting was adjourned at 4:50 PM.
