T. Dolley & Steve Aplin, representing the Truckee Volunteer
Fire Department appeared before the Board and brought up the
question of the District having a man present at all fires to
cut off the wires that may be a hazard to the fireman. It was
the contention of Tana er .&dmunds that there was little if any
hazard involved in the great majority of fires. Mr. Aplin stat-
ed that the firemen felt that there was considerable hazard and
that the wires should be disconntected. Manager Edmunds stated
that at one time the -firemen had notified the Telephone Company
to have him called whenever a fire alarm was turned in so that
he could take care of any wires that were in a hazardous condi-
tion, but that for some time past this practise had not been
observed. dire Chief .Dolley was requested to notify the Tele-
phone Co. to place Ldmunds upon its calling list and thus there
would be a District representative present to take care of
what hazards from Tires there may be.
Dolley and Aplin a79D brought up the condition of the hydrants
and water mains across the Truckee River and across Trout Creek.
They were informed that the District had made repeated efforts
to get welding supplies and had had promises from several local
welders that the leaks in the main would be repaired but so far
had not beEnsucc essful in having this worms. done. Lrr. Aplin offer-
ed to arrange to obtain the necessary welding material and
offered to assist in getting a Southern Pacific welder to do the
work, ilia offer was accepted with thanks.
