The members of the Dodrd of Directors of the Truckee Public
Utility District met in regular --meeting at the office of the
District on Main St., Truckee, at $ P M, E L Loynd, president,
presiding.
Upon roll call the following directors were noted present:

The minutes of the meeting of February 2$th were read` and approved.
The following bills were read and on Notion made and carried were

The following communications were read:
From the Tahoe -Truckee Unified School District to the
Board of Directors, under date of Feb 14, notifying the District
that they were electing to purchase the property under the terms
of the option of July 25, 1949. A discussion followed relative
to fencing of the school property and chairman Loynd stated that
he would take the matter up with the governing board of the School
District.
Manager Edmunds reported that Ralph Emerson wi;o has had
the Meadow Lal,e pasture under rent for tYe past few years at the
price of Y"900. per year had requested that due to the sale of the
acreage to the school that the Board consider a reduction in the
rental price. The Doard expressed itself as against any reduction
due to .the nature of the land that was sold ,eing unfit for pasture.
Manager Edmunds reported that gchoit Supt. E V O'Rourke
had inquired as to the possi.l,ilitl,.T of t'' e District furnisr ing a
sufficient supply of water to the new High Scr,,�-)1_. Ile had stated
that tre school wou-1-d reru-re 5000 gallons per dajr. Some dis-
cussion took place relative to t'le future lo7ater supplies and require-
ments of the Gateway -Meadow Lake areas. No decision was arrived at
regarding the financing of the new -needed improvements.
_ A letter from the Sout�;ern Pacific Co., under date of March
$th relative to the purchase of the Sanders Water System was read
and Manager Edmunds reported that Mr. H. F. Dully, Asst. Division Engineer
for the Southern Pacific Co., at a recent visit to the District office
had reported that Mr. Sanders had made an offer to sell his water rights
and system for the sum of $4500. with the understanding that the District
would purchase his distribution system for yP'2000. the balance of the sum
to Le paid by the Southern Pacific Co. for the water rights. The Dir-
ectors went on record against paying trlis sum for the small number of
customers on the Sanders System.

19HEREAS: THE TRUCKEE PUBLIC UTILITY DISTRICT , herein called the
"APPLICANT", a1rer Lnorougn consiaerarlon of Lne various aspects of the
problem and study of available data has hereby determined that the con-
struction of certain public works, generally described as a public
water works to serve the area adjacent to Donner lake and within the
above district, is desirable and in the public interest and to that end
it is necessary that action preliminary to the construction of said
works be taken immediately: and
WHEREAS: under the terms of puh l i c law � 52 , $1st Congress, ar►nr oved
October 13, 1949, the United States of America has authorized the making
of advances to public bodies to aid in defraying the cost of architectural,
engineering, and economic investigations and studies, surveys, designs,
plans, working drawings, specifications, rrocedures and other action pre-
liminary to the construction of public works ( exclusive of housing)-. and
WHEREAS, the applicant has examined and duly considered such act and
the applicant considers it to be in the nuhlic interest and to its benefit
to file an application under said act and to authorize other action in
connection therewith;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY Hoard of Directors
The governing body of said applicant, as follows:
1. That the construction of said public works is essential to and is
to the best interests of the applicant, and to the end that such public
works may be provided as promptly as practicable it is desirable that
action preliminary to the construction thereof be undertaken immediately;
2, That C. Edmunds, General Manager of the District
Be hereby authorized to file in behalf of the applicant an application
( in form required by the United States and in conformity with said act)
for an advance to be made by the United States to the applicant to aid
in defraying the planning cost preliminary to the construction of such
public works, which shall consist generally of approximately 6800 feet
of 8- inch, 9000 feet of 6-inch, 1700 feet of 4-inch, and 4500 0-f -2-inch
water mains; the development of a spring and surface storage; and a
well, pump, and pump house.
3. That if such advance be made the applicant shall provide or make
necessary arrangements to provide such funds, in addition to the advance,
as may be required to defray the cost of such action preliminary to the
construction of the public works;
4. The said representative is hereby authorized to furnish such
information and take such other action as may he necessary to enable
the applicant to qualify for the advance;
5. That the officer designated in the preceding -paragraph is hereby
designated as the authorized representative of the applicant for the
purpose of furnishing to the United States such information, data and
documents rertaining to the application for an advance as may be
required- and otherwise to act as the authorized representative of the
applicant in connection with this application.
6. That certified copies of this Resolution be included as part of
the application for an advance to Le submitted to the United States.

And also due to the sum of around A'1$00.wr ich it world be
necessary to expend to connect the Sanders System with the
Districts system and the installation of meters. It was felt
that the District would be interested in obtaining these
customers if the total sum involved could (,.e trought to a
sum which would assure a safe return for the District.
