The members of the Board of Directors of the Truckee Pudic Utility
District met in regular meeting at the District on Main St., V
Truckee, at 2 :30 p m, E. L. Loynd president, r. residing.

R. Smart. president and C A Tollefson, representing the Truckee
Chamber of Commerce appeared beforethe Board asking that the pres-
ent pavments of tti-e District towards the Chambers Secretarys
salarv' be increased sufficiently to cover the entire salary of the
secretary. It was poir.�.ted out by them that at present the dues
from the members is not sufficient to pay a part of the salary and
leave a balance with which to carr-;.- on necessary functions of the
Chn-tuber. After sore liscussion t1re co_-.1nittee 1-eft with the
assurances of President Loynd that the matter would be given con-
sideration.
A communication was read from the District to ',,,Tr. Chamberlain
under date of Oct 12, relftive to a "faithful performance bond"
as,-ed for by the Taloe-Truckee Unified Scr.�ol District in connection
with serving the new high schoil. Also a ^ory of a letter written
by Tyr. Chamberlain to District Attorne, Tindall_ of Placer County
relative to the same, under dr,,te of Oct 16.
A .letter was presented from the Insurance Commissioner of the
State advising of an increase in 7.1orkmens Compensation rates
to become effective Oct 1, 1950, same was ordered filed.
Manager Edmunds presented a proposal for connection charges
for services to both the water and electric lines of the
District, stateing that due to greatly increased costs of
labor and supplies it was no longer economically good
business for the District to continue to mal-e such connections
free of charge. He stated that it was becomming the general
practise thruought the state and country for such charges
to be made. Tl- e matter was laid over for further consideration.
A letter was read under date of Oct 30, from the
Community Facilities Service, relative to the Districts appli-
cation for advance funds for planning. The communication
stated that applications which did not contribute to the
current defense effort or necessary essential civilian re-
quirements could not at this time be considered. In view of
this ruling,Chairman Loynd stated that the District would
have to pay for the preliminary engineering plans sut-mitted
by L. Cedric Macabee to the amount of 1°1200.00 for the
planning of the water system around Donner Lake. In view of
the rresent financial situation of the District, wM.ch
Manager Edmunds reported, was an-roximatel iT 00. in the
Districts electric fund and �'10')0, in the water fund. The
drawing of the chec?-- for the engineering services was !.aid
over until next mecting.
The Board then took u^ the matter presented t-y the Truckee
Chamber of Commerce representatives and it was moved and
carried that temporarily the District would continue to carry
out the present arrangements aith tre Chamber and �vl,ou ld pay
the full amount of the Secretar,,rs salary each month, until
such time as the District comes under the Social Security
Act.
Due to the financial conditi:)n of the District,the matter of
disposing of the remaining land in M L Park was brought up ly
Manager Edmunds, and laid over for future consideration.
