HomeMy WebLinkAbout1953-05-12 Min - Board4 Shell Oil Co- tire 21.90 Truckee -Tahoe Lbr Co- lbr 62.07 Armanko Office Supply Co-supp 60.74 Manager reported that the Sierra Truck & Motot Co. of Grass Valley had not as yet delivered the cab :nd chassis ordered but during the meeting a call came from this firm stating that the truck was ready for delivery and the Manager notified them that he would be in Grass Valley tomorrow and examine the same. The Manager read a letter under date of April 21st from the Ne idermeyer- Martin C o . stating that they could not quote on Douglas Fir poles and upon examining the two remaining bids the National Pole Treating Co. of San Francisco being the lowest, it was moved and carried that the order for a truck load of poles be given to this firm. The Board then discussed the various bids for tanks which had been received and discussed the relative merits of the various types. Final decision was laid over until next meeting when the bid of G B Lewis could be further discussed with him. May 12, 1953 The members of the Board of Directors of the Truckee Public Utility District met in regular meeting, at the office of the District on Main St., at 2-: 30 P m. , E L Loynd, president , presiding. Upon roll call the following directors were noted present: C R Heller H`, Langille E L Loynd The minutes of the meeting of April 27th were read and approved. The h Board proceeded to canvass the returns of the General Election d Tuesday,May 5th for one Director, with the following results: het Total votes cast, 17 6 , Votes received, Charles R. Heller 144 * Richard Joseph, 31. James McIver, 1. m er of votes Charles R. He stated he had sent the Governor a wire in the name of our District advising such action as a result of a request from the attorney of the CMU Association and had also been successful in having other Districts do likewise. The Manager referred to the Board a bill from the Tahoe Forest Hospital in the amount of11.50 which had been sent to E. Hintz, an, employee of the District, as the result of an accident incurred in June 1952. The Plana-ger was instructed to notify the hospital to submit an itemized bill. The Manager brought up the matter of the Tahoe -Truckee Unified School District considering installing a pump on the scho of g rounds in connection with a well which they wre proposing to drill. He stated that steps should be taken to see that the school pumping system.. wad not cross connected with the lines of the District. Chairman Loynd---. stated that he had informed Supt. E. V. O'Rourke that cross connection with the Districts line would not be permitted. A communication was read which had been recently received from Mrs. Chester A. Burns, relative to a credit -br discount on her March bill which she had not taken when paying same, but which she took credit for when paying her April bill. After some discussion, it was moved and carried that no credit would be given when bills were paid in full by a customer who did not take the discount when entitled to same. The Manager was instructed to notify firs. Burns that on future payments when discounts were permissible that they must be taken at time of pay- ment or no credit would be given. A communication was read under date of May 8th from wm. Cunha of San Leandro, asking for information on lots along Highway 40 across from the Checking Station. After some discussion of the offer made by G E Lewis of $40,000.00 for the land of the District east of the High School, the Manager was instructed to notify lair. Lewis that an offer of $45,000-00 f 236 would receive their serious consideration. The Manager reported that R. Joseph had made a verbal offer of $400-00 for the 40 acres owned by the District in Section 9. The Board would not consider such an offer and the matter was tabled. A communication was read under date of May 8th from T L Chamberlain asking for the copy of the borrow agreement between the Highway Dept and the District for gravel off of the 73 acres in Section 17, to be used in connection with the condemnation proceedings between the State Highway-G E Lewis and the Truckee Public Utility District. The Manager was authorized to forward the same to Mr. Chamberlain. A communication was read under date of May 5th, from G E Lewis, submitting a new offer for a corrugated galvanized water tank. The Board discussed the various offers from the several Comapnies regarding the different types of tanks and it was moved and carried that the District would install a 100,000 gallon Redwood tank and the Manager was instructed to call for bids for this type of tank. Bids to be opened on May 26th. The Manager was also authorized to employ a surveyor to pick out a site for a tank on the hill, across from the high school. The matter of the back bill of the Truckee Resort and the action of R. 0. Gifford in using profane language in the office and in de- libertly damaging the new truck of the District, was discussed and the Manager was instructed to have the truck repaired and the bill for the same to be referred to I.J.
