Portola, including the Mayor and one of the Councilmen, had
visited the office on Oct 15th to gather some information
on the operations of our District.
The Manager advised that the sire Commissioners of the Truckee
Fire District had given written notice of the locations for
new fire hydrants in the Gateway and Meadow Lake areas and that
work on the same had been started but had been halted at the
request of County Engineer Smith who expressed a desire to
inspect the locations and discuss the installation of the same
before we proceeded further.
No further business appearing, Board adjourned.

The members of the Board of Directors of the Truckee Public
Utility District met in regular meeting at theoffi ce of the
District on Main St,, at 2:30 p m. , E L Loynd, president,
presiding.
Upon roll call the following directors were noted present:

This meeting was postponed from the regular date of October
27th due to the bhsence of chairman Loynd out of town. The
minutes of the meeting of October 13 th were read and approved.
The following bills were read and upon motion made and carried

G E Lewis then entered the meeting. A communication was read
under date of October 15th from County Clerk Deeble, notifying
the D istrift of a jury trial in connection with the condemnation
proceedings to be held on November 2, 1953. Also communication
from T L Chamberlain under date of Oct 21 relative to the same.
Also communcations . under date of Oct 26 from T L Chamberlain
including list of trial jurors to be called in connection with
the above case and asking for information relative to those names.
Mr. Lewis explained the present status of the case and expressed
confidence that a substantial sum would be realized in the settle-
ment of same. He then departed.
The Manager reported that he had received a copy of the new
service agreement for the ensuing year from the. Burroughs Adding
Mchine Co. covering the District t s billing machine and signed
the same and returned it to the Company. The action of the
Manager was approved by the Board.
A communication was read under date of Oct 26th and Oct 30th
from Paul H. Chamberlain and including the decision of the
Public Utilities Commission approving the sale of the Truckee
Water System to the District. Same were ordered filed.
A communication was read from Mrs. Vida Russi notifying the District
that she was endeavoring to sell the office property to the Masonic
Lodge and asking for the District's approval of the same in view
of the option the District had on -the property under their lease
agreement. It was moved and carried that the Board would approve
the sale provided the other terms of the lease would continue in
effect.
A communication was read under date of Oct 23 from A B Collier,
Accounting officer of the Calif. Highway Patrol, giving authority
to the District to procede with the installation of an electric line
to serve their radio station on Ski Hill and agreeing to the approxi-
mate price and payment of $2800. Same was ordered filed.
*-- A communication was read under date of Oct 6th the Power Cost
Service Corporation of San Francisco outlining a proposed investiga-
tion of the rates paid by the District to the Sierra Pacific Power Co.
Same was ordered filed.
A communication was read under date of Oct 16th from the District
to Mr. Chamberlain and under date of Oct 19th from Chamberlain relative
to the development of a Donner Lake 'dater System. The same was laid
over for further consideration at such time as an expression had been
received from the residents of the Donner Lake area.
The Manager brought up the matter of further collection t
efforts on delinquent accounts which had been written off
and suggested turning such accounts over to the Nevada Credit
Bureau for further efforts at collecting same. The Board
approved the suggestion of the Manager and authorized such
action.
No further business appearing. Board adjourned.
