The Manager reported that service had been cut off at the �

owned C. Cason was discontinued for the same reason.
The 111anager also reported. that Mr. ?Anse of the State Board of
Health had called up during the past week and asked that the
District continue to send weekly samples of the Gateway well;
The likanager reported that R Joseph had. paid 1145.00 for the
street lights installed in the Gateway area.
The Manager also reported that Mr. R. Saunders, Mgr. of the
Bank of America had inquired about the financial condition of
the District in connection with the Bank purchasing the Districts
note owing to E. Tonini forthe water system.
The Manager reported that no payment on principal or interest
had been received from G E Lewis on his note covering the purchase
of the Meadow Lake land. He stated that Mr. Lewis had advised
him that Mr. Chamberlain had stated that there would probably
be an amount of $5000* which would be available from the Condemna-
tion settlement. He also stated that fir. Chamberlain advised
that the case would be closed,as is, and not taken to a higher
court .

The members of the Board of Directors of the Truckee Public Utility
District met in regular meeting at the office of the District on
Plain St., at 2 :30 p m. , 'E. L. Loynd, president, presiding.
Unon roll call the following directors were noted present:

The Manager read portions of a report received from the County
Assessor relative to assessed valuations in the Donner Lake area,
and stated that he expected to confer with fir. Chamberlain relative
to the Donner Lake vDater Co, sometime this week.
Communications were read under date of January 20th from the District
to County Engineer, C J Smith, relative to trespass on road to
-- Sanitary Dump. Also ansere to same under date of January 22, in
which Mr. Smith enclosed specifications for the construction of
County roads in new subdivisions. The Planager reported that no
word had as yet been received from the County relative to the
right of ways for roads in the IVeadow Lake tract.
The Manager presented a new signature card from the Lank of America
and it was moved and carried that the Chairman, Acting -Secretary
and Treasurer be authorized to sign all checks and that any two
of their signatures would be sufficient on a check. The chairman
was also authorized to sign the revoking of 'power of attorney' to
Treasurer, Winifred Kamp, which was authorize. on Nov 6, 1946.
The Manager reported that Jerry Lewis had been in the office this
day and had stated that he was in no position to make a payment on
account at this time and that 1r. Chamberlain had advised him that
the condemnation money may be only sufficient to cover the cost of
the law suit. He further stated that he planned on nutting the
land along Highway 40 on the market for sale in an endeavor to raise
the necessary money in order to meet his obligation to the District.
The Manager reported that additional heir was needed in the office
so as to relieve him to give his attention to more important matters.
He stated that he had advertised in the Sierra Sun for' a combination
billing clerk and bookkeeper and had received seven applications.
The Board authorized him to hire the most suitable of the annlicants
and purchase the necessary desk and equipment teeded. He stated
: that he had set the salary to be offered for this position at Q00,
per month.
The lvian'ager brought up the question of slow payment of bills and
the need for stricter collection efforts and the Board members ex-
preseed themselves as favoring the tightening of the District's
collection and credit methods.
