E Hintz- labor 42 *00 Union Oil Co- gas & oil 6*32 J R Bradley Co- supp 230* 84 E Hintz- labor . 37* 40 Ileen Risden- off help 10.80 Manager Edmunds reported that he had . a telephone call from Mr. T L Chamberlain , advising that he was filing suit against County Clerk Deeble to recoverthe amount of $5625. due the District,as well as certain sums due himself for fees in connection with the condemnation suit against G E Lewis and the District, which suit resulted in an award of $13,200, This award is being held up by an attachment of the Bureau of Internal ,Revenue against G E Lewis for delinquent income tax,,. V0,1ative to , an agreement with the Southern Pacific Co. regarding pipe line crossing near S P depot of the old Nutt Green system, it was moved and carried that the chairman and acting -secretary be authorized to sign the same on behalf of the District. Manager Edmunds brought up the matter of the Feasibility Report of the Reclamation Bureau, covering the building of the Sta.mpdde Dam and road a letter addressed to California Department of Water Resources regarding the same. He also offered for the consideration of the Board, a resolution drawn up oppposing the present plan for diversion of the waters of Stampede Dam thrbu h a tunnel into the State of N p g Nevada. It . was .moved and unanimously carried that the attached resolution be adopted and copies of the same be sent to all interested parties. The Manager reported that Fir6sComiiissioner A. Pace had requested that the -Board advise the Commissioners what the District was going to charge .for the new hydrants in the Gateway and Meadow"Lake areas. After some discussion it was moved and carried t. WHITE R E c 0 T TT � -7� � N ACCOUNTANT WHEREAS, the Bureau of Reclamation has completed a "Feasibility Report" of the Washoe Project for submission to the Congress of the United States, -wherein is proposed the building of Stampede Reservoir on the Little Truckee River with direct diversion of the waters there- from through a tunnel into the State of Nevada; and WHEREAS, Eastern Nevada C ounty t s most vital and greatest asset is its waters, both for fishing and recreation as well as for present and future potential industrial and power development* and WHEREAS, diversion in the manner proposed would seriously and detrimentally effect the natural. resources of Eastern Nevada County by diverting the waters of the Little Truckee River from their natural course through Nevada Counter into the Truckee River; and WHEREAS., the diversion of the waters of the Little Truckee River from Nevada County without the opportunity now or in the future of the fullest utilization of such waters within Nevada County and the State of California is contrary to the best interests and welfare of the in- habitants thereof; and WHEREAS, the flood control and irrigation features of the proposed Washoe Project for the benefit of the people of the State of Nevada can be as substantially realized by other suggested plans of the Bureau of Reclamation which would retain to the people of Nevada County and the State of California greater utilization of the multiple uses of the waters of this County; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Board of Directors of Truckee Public Utility District, that we most earnestly protest the diversion of the waters of the Little Truckee River in the manner now proposed in the Feasibility Report of the Washoe Project; and -BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that all interested parties be requested to oppose such diversion in the manner proposed and that copies of this resolution be forwarded to U. S. Senator William Knowland, Congressman Clair Engle, Governor Goodwin Knight,. State Engineer A. D. Edmonston, State Senator Harold T . John son , . and State Assemblyman Francis Lindsay and others urging their assistance in having a reconsideration of the Project as now proposed so as to preserve and protect the interests and welfare of the people of Nevada County and the State of California.
