Chairman Loynd reported that he had given the Boy Scouts permission to use the
Ball Park and the same was agreed to by the Board members. He also reported
that he had received a letter from Ralph Emerson addressed to the Truckee
Baseball Club, under date of May 19th, reporting that the fence in the rear
of the ball park had blown down and asking that the same be repaired. The
Manager was instructed to have the fence repaired.
The Manager reported that Mr. I 0 Gifford of the Truckee Resort had been in the,
office during the past week requesting that the service be restored as he was
leasing the property. The Manager stated that he had advised Mr. Gifford with
the approval of Attorney P. Chamberlain that service could not be restored until
the outstanding bill had been paid. Mr. Gifford had left stating .that he would
take the matter up with the Utilities Coma i.ssion and if necessary sue the District.
Directors Loynd and Heller reported that Mr. Gifford had approached both of them
and made similar remarks. The matter was left in the hands of our Attorneys for
settlement.
The Manager reported that he had held a meeting on May 22 with Supervisor Loehr
and representatives of McGuire & Sons of Grass Valley relative to protesting the
diversion of the Little Truckee river under the Washoe Project. He stated that
written protests would be filed by the Board of Supervisors of Nevada County.
Chairman Loynd stated that the merchants of Main St. were agreeing to
put up $2.00 a month each to have the Main St., swept once each week during
the simmer months and it was moved and carried that the District should
contribute the sum of $2.00.each month to assist in this work.
The Manager submitted a schedule of proposed rates under classification LCB & S
whereby a reduction would be made in these rates approximately 6% . The
matter was discussed by the Board and laid over for further consideration
after a comparison could be made of the past three months under the old and
proposed schedules.
The matter of the auditing of the books of the District for the fiscal year
ending June 30, 1954 was discussed and a motion made and carried that the
firm of H. Straine & Sons in Sacramento be retained to audit the books for
the year.
No further business appearing, Board adjourned.
