relative to the placing of a Lake Tahoe sign - on the District's property along
Highway 40 east of the High School. This committee headed by Mr. James
and Mr. Bettencourt of Kings Beach had also interviewed Directors Loynd and
Heller and after some discussion it was moved and carried that permission be
granted for the placing of a billboard on this property, provided that Lake
Tahoe as a whole was to be advertised thereon and no specific resorts
mentioned.
The Manager read off 7 uncollectable accounts and it was moved and carried
that these accounts be written off frcim the bills receivable to the count
of $145.13 from the Electric account and 32.17 from the Water account.
No further business appearing, Board adjourned.

The members of the Board of Directors of the Truckee Public Utility District
met in regular meeting at the office of the District on Main St., ' at 2:30 p m.,

The minutes of the meeting of June 29th were read and approved.

A delegation from the Truckee Chamber of Co-rnerce consisting of Dr. 0. Scow,
R, Smart, E, Stice appeared before the Board askinCO
g for a contribution from
the District of $50. monthly to assist in the operation of the Chamber.
They reported that it was their intention to open an office in the Smith Bldg.
on Main St. and thus relieve the District of all further connection with the
Chamber.
Sam Follett and R. Bick were also present and Mr. Follett expressed his oppo-
sition to the District contributing towards the support of the Chamber and
cited the need for all District funds to carry on the work of the District.
�-- Chairman Loynd thanked those present for their information and interest in the
matter and assured them that the Directors would take the matter under consider-
ation. After some further discussion it was moved and carried that the District
contribute the sum of $50. per month to the Truckee Chamber of Commerce,
G F Lewis who was also present then discussed the work he was doing for the
District in digging the ditches for the mains from the new tank and agreed to
keep his equipment working for one more day.to finish up the work. Mr. Lewis
then left the meeting.
Manager Edmunds reported that the tank material had arrived on July 6th
and that the men were erecting the same and expected to have it completed in
the next day or two. Chairman Loynd reported that he had visited and inspected
the tank site and the work being done in installing and laying the new main.
The Manager submitted the analysis of the samples of water taken at the Tahoe -
Forest Hospital and also from the kitchen sink of Dr. Kase residence. The
analysis showed that the hospital sample kad very little contamination and the
sample from the Dr. Kase residence had appreciable contamination. Manager
Edmunds reported he had discussed the analysis with Morgan Stewart, Sanitary
Engineer for the Dept of Health and that' he thought the appreciable contamination
at Dr. Kase' s residence was of a local nature.
A communication under date of July 9th, addressed to the Public Utilities
Commission by Paul H. Chamberlain, relative to application of the Donner Lake
Utility Do. for a certificate ,pf Public Convenience to engage in the water
business was read and Manager pcltInds reported on a telephone conversation he
had with Mir. T L and Paul Chamberldin regarding the same. It was the suggestion
of the Manager that iir. Bernard White, Consulting Engineer of Sacramento be
engaged to inspect the work being done by the Donner Lake Utility Co. so that
the information he gathered could be used in case condemnation proceedings were
necessary. It was moved and carried that Mr. White be engaged to make this
investigation.
The rVTanager drew the attention of the Directors to the comparison of returns
between the present electric ratesand new proposed rates and also suggested that
a revision in the water rates of the McGlashan System should be made and that
further suggestions would be brought in at some future meeting with a view to
consideration by the Board of an adjustment in the water rates at the same time
that new electric -rates were being considered.
No further business appearing, Board adjourned.
