Carver, Attorney, appeared before the- Beard and requested further information relative to the springs and water rights of the District of which Mr. Lloyd - Van Sickle was concerned. It was explained to Mr. Carver that the spri.ngp- ,i.n question were on District land and were being cleaned out and developed to maintain the domestic water supply. of* the District, and that they W been contributing to this source for many years. Hr_ Carver explained that he had apparently been given a wrong conception of the situation, and was glad to receive the information from the District, after thanking the Directors he then departed. - - Manager Edmunds reported that one of the recent fires had originated on District property close to the McGlashan tunnel and tank and had apparently been caused by children -playing with matches. The fire had been brought under control by the Forest Ser{vz.ce and the Truckee Volunteer Fire Department. In appreciation ...� of the efforts of the volunteer fireman it was moved and carried that a donation of $25.00 be dontributed to the 'funds of the Volunteer Fire Department. The Manager reported that he had held a meeting with Mr. Van Bourg of the firm of De Lapp an& Van Bourg, Architects of Berkeley, California, regarding plans for a new District --County Office building. He explained that Mr. Van Bourg was to send copies of a site survey and a proposed contract together with owher architect obligation for the consideration of the District. These forms hake not been received as yet. After some discussion relative to other sites it kas moored and carried that the Manager be authorized to go ahead and have the site -at Spring and E Main surveyed. 1 A com unication. was read under date of July 26th from Paul H. Chamberlain . relative to securities for deposits of the Bank of America. Also the agreement for the deposit of funds between the Truckee Public Utility District and the Bank. The • same were ordered filed. The Manager brought up the matter of the garbage collection in the District and quggested that.4he thought the best interests of the people would be served if the District were tQ take over the garbage collection; No action was taken. Meadow Lake spring , the South Sides Springs- # 2 and South Side Springs #1 Ext, made by the State Board of Health was read to the Board and Manager Edmunds stated that due to the apparent contamination shown in the reports that he would have further analysis made before springs were put into use. Communication was read from E C Blanc, Supt of Building for the Pacific -Tel & Tel Co., under date of Sept 22, relative to the electric requirements for a new Telephone Bldg, to be completed -in November 1955. Communication was referred to manager. The Manager reported that he expected to have some of the crew working on clearing up the ice pond South of the Truckee River,, The Board approved this work, A communication was read from J E Wood, Pres. of the Virginia and Truckee Transit Co, under date of A st 25, relative to Bus Service �--- between Truckee and Donner Summit anask for a meeting to discuss the same. The Manager was authorized to meet with Mr. Wood and gather what data he could relative to -the cost of operation of such service„ The Manager was instructed to ascertain if it would be agreeable to the Truckee Sanitary District for the Utility District to take over the operation of the garbage system, and under what terms and conditions. The Board instructed the manager to write a letter to the Olympic Commission and offer the land at the Truckee Wye for the 1960 skating events.
