The Water Pollution Control Board had assured him of their cooperation and the possible payment by their Board for this service. Oil Co- gas & oil 17.36 Water Fund: Truckee Tahoe Lbr Co.,- nails 2.15 Union Oil Co-- gas & oil 22 25 J R Bradley Co- supp 95.58 A communication was read from J E Wood, President of the Virginia -Truckee Transit Co. under date of Nov 7 quoting prices for contract busses proposed to be operated by the District between Truckee and Donner Summit, It was noted by the manager that such service between the dates of Dec 17 and Feb 28 on a weekend basis would cost around $1500. After some discussion director Welsh stated that he, as president of the Truckee Chamber of Commerce would call a meeting in the near future of the directors of that body to consider the underwriting of the cost of operation. J � T The manager reported that on Nov lst he had attended a meeting of the Truckee : Sanitary Board and had asked that body if they would consider turning over the garbage collection business of this area to the Utility District, The Sanitary Board members stated that they were not in favor of such action at this time. The manager reported that the ice pond on -the south side of the river had been put into condition except for the installation of the flood lights and the doors and windows of the waning room. Some discussion took place relative to how the pond should be operated. The matter was laid over for further discussion by the Truckee Chamber of Commerce with interested parties in the operation of the same. Communications were read under date of November lst from J T Leggett, Executive Officer of the Lahontan Water Pollution Control Board, relative to a investi- gation of the geology of the Gateway-Ijeadow Lake area. Also a letter under date of Nov 4th from the Division of dater Resources stating that Mr. Raymond C. Richter, Engr; Geologist and Mr. Chas. A. McCullough, Hydralic Engineer would be in Truckee on Nov gth. The manager reported that these two gentlemen arrived on that date and spent two days investigating the underground water supply and flow and the geology of that area, and that their report would be submitted at a later date. At this point Mr: Reg Smart of Smart f s Drive In Cafe appeared before the Board and discussed his electric rates. He stated he felt that his bill was too high and that certain heavy duty appliances should be metered and billed at the Districtf s lowest HC rate. He was advised that the District would be agreeable to putting in a separate meter and that we would cooperate with his electrician in making this installation. Mr. L E Blakeley; Consulting Engineer for the County of Alpine and Manager of the Marklew ille Public Utility District, appeared before the Board and discussed some of the problems of his area as effected by the Washoe Project. Com unication was read under date of Nov 2 from the Iriter-County Title Co. in Nevada City, regarding an escrow transaction between G E Lewis and the State of California and asking if the District would provide a partial re - conveyance of the property involved and a statement of the District's demand. In view of the next payment from Mr. Lewis on this land being due on January► 1, 1956 it was moved and seconded that no demand by the District on the moneys involved in the transaction witli the State of California would be made. Director Welsh brought up the matter of the use by various firms and individuals of water from, the hydrants in the District. The Manager reported that he had been considering for some time some other means of furnishing such water for tanks, etc. and the Board agreed that there should be a standpipe installed which could serve such users and that the hydrants should not be used for such purposes, Comunication was read from C. Bernard White, Jr, accepting the asignment of appraising the power line serving the Donner Lake area, and stating that due to winter conditions and his own rush of business that early in the spring of 1956 would be the best time for hint to undertake the work. This was agreeable with the Board and the matter was left to the manager to handle. The application of the Donner Lake Utility Co. for an extension of their certificate offpublic convenience and necessity f to serve water around the balance of the Donner Lake area was received from John �M. Welch of Sacramento, Attorney for the Company. Consideration of the same was laid over until the next meeting. No further business appearing, Board adjourned, A-Officio Secretary President
