HomeMy WebLinkAbout1956-12-27 Min - Board55 n letter was read under date of Dec 4th from the Division of Highways relative to the _ status of Berkhalter Ave. and setting forth that this road was under the jurisdiction of the County of Nevada, relative to perr*ts for crossing the same to serve customers of the Sanders eater System. The request for any permits necessary was left up to the discretion of the 'Manager. The Manager reported that a permit had been received from the Division of Highways for the placing of Xmas lights across MMain St. and that an endeavor will be made v-ithin the next few days to have such lights placed. The Manager reported that in the Chamber of Co-L merce Christmas Decoration Contest there had been 3 applications signed for the Home Decoration Contest and 1 for the Commercial Decoration Contest, Hal 14elch agreed to arrange for judging of the contest. The Directors further discussed the matter of street lights along the Main St. but no definite action was taken. The Manager read a copy of the Protest hd h6.d filed with the Division of rater Resources against the application of the Bureau of Reclamation for diversion of the Little Truckee River for use on the 'erasho e Project. The Manager reported that Paul Kaspian had paid his water bill at his residence under protest and had been notified by mail of this meeting of the Board of Directors. 11r. A communication was read under date of Dec 13 from Paul H. Chamberlain relative to the Washoe Project eater Protest and the T=inager explained thap the ammended protest as submitted by Mr. Chamberlain had been for- warded to supercede the protest filed bn Dec 7th. A communication was read under date of Dec 18th from. the District to the Engineering Management Inc., with reference to certain corrections desired by the District in the right of way they were requesting and the Manager advised that Mr. Blersch of -Engineering Management had telephoned and re- quested a letter be sent to Supt. Anderson of the Southern Pacific Co. in reference to the right of way desired by the District. A copy of this letter dated Dec 26th was read to the Board and was approved by them for forwarding to Mr. Anderson. The Manager reported that after certain bills had been applied that Mr. G E Lewis owed the District as of Jan 2, 1957, 8750.00 on principle and 46.80 on interest and that a bill for this amount would be sent Mr. Lewis on the lst of the year, Director welch submitted a report for the prizes for Christiaas decoration. 1st prize for home decorations went to E K Stice of Spring Lane, Gateway $25. 2nd prize " it it It It Chester A Burns of Church St. 10. There being but one entry in the Commercial contest, no prizes were given. A communication was read under date of Dec 26th from J E Joerger enclosing a check for i'0100. for payment for pasture during the surmier of 1957. Co-1-rnunication filed. The Manager brought up the matter of new street lights for the Main St of Truckee and submitted the following resolution4�--Sclo o 1/ "HEA5, The street lights on the Main Street of Truckee have been removed due to the removal of the poles of tIl1e Pacific Telephone & Telegraph Co., on which they had been mounted, and, 4H t'�' S, The Utility District some twenty years ago installed the latest and mcit efficient ornamental lights available at that time and had maintained the same until their removal, and, V.i;, S, These lights are nor obsolete, but have some junk or reclaimable value, and, VhiER.&AS, It is the desire of the merchants along 14ain Street to have the latest and -gost efficient type of street li#hts installed for the benefit of business and the promotion of the town, and, i ��S, The cost of installing such lights together with mounting standards, which are necessary with the removal of the telephone poles,amounts to approximately w'4500,00, I O'4 TH UAFORE, The Board of Directors of the Utility District in regular meeting agree that if the property owners and ;merchants along Main Street, between Spring and Bridge will raise and pay to the Dis- trict the sum, of $3000.00, the District will install 9 flourescent V shaped street lights mounted on steel standards without further cost to the property owners and maintain the same thereafter. After some discussion the resolution was unanimously adopted and the ,tanager was authorized to send out a circular letter to property owners along Main Street asking for their cooperation in installing modern Street lights. The Directors brought up the matter of the use being made by the old ice pond for skating and the Manager was requested to install additional flood lights. Director Heller stated that Paul Kaspian had discussed with him his charges for water and had stated that he was not using the extra house on his lot and felt that he should not be charged for same. Director stated that he would inform Mt. Kaspian to notify the office to discontinile his water charges during the period the house was vacant. The monthly report of the Electric and 'dater systems for the month of November as subr►uitted by auditor k^,lhite and after perusal were ordered filed.
