system in the Gateway area, and after some discussion the Directors
instructed the Manager to inform Mr. Vind and others interested that
extensions in the Gateway area would be made by blocks only. Further
discussion relative to the street lights along Main St. and the advisability
of having lights installed under the Assessment Act. The Manager stated that
he would contact some of the Owners along the Main St. and get their reaction
to such a move,

Mr. Siler of the State Highway Dept. going over the various relocations
and moving of the District's utilities due to the freeway construction.
The Manager, informed the Directors of a credit adjustment in the District's
power bill for February discovered by Mr. H. Straine in his audit and that
the same had been adjusted by the Sierra Pacific Power Co in our June bill.
The Manager requested permission to purchase a new Dodge Power Wagon for
use on the water s�s tem, due to the rundown condition of the present jeep
that used for this purpose. After some discussion it was moved and carried
that the Manager be authorized to call for bids for a Dodge Power Wagon or
its equivalent .

met in regular meeting at the office of the District on Main St., at 9:30 a m.

The Manager reported that the firm of Harry M. Straine & Sons had completed
the audit of the books and that he had commented on the fact that our
full coverage insurance only protected us against liability in our opera-
tions other than automobiles to the amount of 25,000.00. After some
discussion, chairman Welch requested the Manager to have Mr. CZSmith,
our insurance broker, review the policy and report in writing to the
Board.
Communications were read under date of July 16th from Paul H. Chamberlain
to the District and under date of July 18th from J H Sanders to the District
relative to the final settlement of the sale of the Sanders Water System
to the District.
Communications were read under date of July 22 from Paul H. Chamberlain
relative to the 10 San Francisco County Sales tax and stating that he
would give us an opinion as soon as he got further information.from the
City of San Francisco,
A communication was read under date of July 16th from the Division of
Highways relative to certain relocations of the District's facilities on
account of the new freeway. Manager Edmunds reported that he had met
with Mr. Siler of the Highway Dept. and gone over the proposed changes
and that Mr. Siler stated that he would submit a map showing t e proposed
changes for the consideration of the Board at an early date.

A communication was read under date of July 23 rd from John S . Longwell,
Coordinator of the Division of Utilities of the California Disaster Office,
explaining the joint venture agreement, which a number of the Utilities {
have entered into and inviting the District to join. The letter was
referred to the Manager to get further informclion on the contribution
required for membership.
Chairman Welch announced that an executive Board meeting would be held
on Thursday, August 1, at 10: a m for consideration of the appointment
of two additional directors to the Board.
The Manager reported on the progress to date made by the County Airport
committee in its negotiations for the use of a strip of land from Joe Joerger
and explained that the committee had asked to have the Utility District
hold a temporary lease on this property until the formation of the Airport
District so that the Airport comittee might arrange with a suitable airline
to commence the service froi# Truckee to the bay area.
It was moved and carried that the Board would be favorable to entering into
a temporary lease if all other conditions were favorable to the Airport
committee.
The Manager reported that Mr. T G Schmitt and family had arrived from
Clarksdale, Mississippi to assume the position of Superintendent of the
District, but that Mrs. Schmitt did not like the locality or the living
conditions and refused to stay, so Mr. Schmitt and family have returned
back home. The Manager reported that he was making efforts to contact
a suitable man through the offices of the California Municipal Utilities
Association and the Bureau of Power and Light in Los Angeles.
The Manager reported that Mr. K. Kielhofer had called in reference to the
possibility of having some of the District's land set aside for recreation
-purposes and that he had advised him to have a petition along these lines
for presentation to the Board.
Mr. A B Cook asked to have the letters read from the Contractors State
License Board relative to their jurisdiction over the District. The
letters of June 19th and July 3rd from that body were then read.
No further business appearing, Board adjourned.
