A letter under date of 14arch 3 fro::i the State Compensation Insurance Fund was read, wherein they were refunding by check the sum of 267 - 90 for 1957 and complimenting the District employees with their safety record. The Manager reported that 14r. Don Lawrie, Right of way Agent of the State Highway had called at the office relative to clearing the title of Lewis property and asked if the District wanted the sum due from Mr. Lewis paid to the District before clearing the title. A motion was made and carried that the District ask for the full amount due before clearing title and also a reservation to be included regarding the rights of the District to a pumping site, near the Donner Cross. The Manager reported that he had referred to Mr. Chamberlain the legislation that had been passed last year with reference to purchasing procedures of public bodies. A proposed resolution subrdtted by Mr. Chamberlain was read and Director Neugebauer moved, seconded by Director King that the resolution be made to read, that the Manager shall have authority to purchase up to $2000. without - bid and the resolution to be resubmitted to Mr. Chamberlain for final form. Motion carried. The Manager stated that no decision had been reached yet with reference to a truck that the - Board authorized some weeks ago, that he was still endeavoring to get additional bids and hoped to be able to ask for final authorization at the next meeting. (b) An employee wbo has worked as a regular employee for the District for a period of t entya-four or more con- secutive months shah. be entitled to ten work days with fuU pay. (c) An employee who has completed ten years of continuous service with the Di.stri.ot shaU be entitled to fifteen work days with full p`. W AU vacations shah. be taken on consecutive ve days maess otherwise mutually agreed upon between District and the employee. (e) Any employee who shall leave the District before taking his regUw scheduled vacation, shaU be entitled to receive full pay for the days p covered by his vacation Pe iod:, (f Vacations may be scheduled atany tie from the first of the year to the end of the year by =tual agreement of District and avloyese (g.) Before April I of each year j- there will be a sign. -up in each department so that employees may desigaate their choice of vacation periods. The District shaU prepare and post the arual vacation schedule on the basis of such sign-aup, effecting wherever possible the selections of the employees in the order of their seniority cla.ssi -W fi.cation, Vacation Usts shall be posted on or before April 15th of each year, SAFM (a) The District shall make reasonable progisions for the safety of employees in the perfcar awe of their work,, 4nployees shaU jointly cooperate in promoting the re~- sponsi.bili.ty of the individual employee with regards to the prevention of accidents. (b) The foreman shall establish a safety inspection committee to fiction in the prevention of accidents by ascertain- ing unsafe working conditions and at least every six months recomand any measures to be taken for correction thereof, in writing to the superintendent. (a) The District reserves the right to draft reasonable safety rules for employees and to insist on the observance of auch rules. UNION ACTIVITY (a) The District will not discriminate against an employee because of his membership in a Union and employees are expected not to discriminate against any employee because of his non -affiliation with a Union. SICK IVE (a) Employees after one year of continuous service shall be entitled to a 5 day sick leave with pay. (b) tpl oyees after two years of continuous service shall be entitled to 3D days sick leave with paV. (c) The District may require satisfactory evidence of an + pl oyee' s it 3 ness or disability before sick leave will be granted. If it is foul that the employee is taking undue advmtage of sick leave provisions., said employee shall forfeit all sick leave acemul.ated up to that date,, (d) thing in the foregoing article sha3 l be interpreted to entitle a the employee to sick leave . while on vacation, temporarily l.a.ld, off by the District., upon severance of employment, or while receiving industrial. compensation. Evais (a) If District requires an wVlcyee to perform work for one and ones -half hours or more beyond regular work hours., it shall provide him with a meal approximately one and one-i-half hours after regular quitting time and with meals at intervals thereafter of approximate 4 hours, but not more than 5 hours,, for as long as he continues such work. The cost of azW such meal and the time necessary to con- s ewe shall be a District expmse,. The time taken to o+onsume these meals up to one. -half W hour shall be considered as work time (b) If an employeep who. is entitled to meals at District ec-- penes$ does not acoopt any such meal., the District in ter-P theless shah, allow him time with pay equivalent to the time taken to eat a meal., namely.* one-mhal.f ` hour.
