HomeMy WebLinkAbout1959-04-09 Min - BoardMinutes March 26, 1959 Continued Mr, Rice appeared before Manager Morey and asked if he could have a piece of property large enough' to build a house on free and clear from his present indebtedness. It was the boards feeling this would not be a satisfactory arrangement and decided to let Mr, Rice take an option on the $ 25 00.00 cash bid if he wished. Correspondence was read under date of March 24th from Southern Pacific Company notifying the District of the changing of agreement from McGl ashen Water Co, to Truckee Public Utility District. They also advised the rental of property would be $ 210.00 per annum against $ 5.00 per annum in recent years, The board asked they be written and inquire as to the raise of rent and ask for a copy of new agree- ment. Some discussion was held on Edwin Fleischmann report of the audit of the District. It was ordered sent to Paul H. Chamberlain. Some discussion was held on new subdivision going in in back of Gifford property. It was ordered the Public Utility Commission be written and ask for boundaries and a map. Upon roll call the following Directors were noted present: Dan Horman, George Kaspian, Jack Neugebauer, Absent: B. R. King, Jr.-H. M. Welch Also present: Daven Morey The minutes of the regular meeting of March 26, 1959 were presented to each Director and upon motion made and carried were approved as presented* It was moved by Director Kaspian and second by Director Horman the bills of April 9. 1959 be paid. A. Slagle, P. 0, Box 447, Yuba City, had contacted him by phone regarding the purchasing or leasing of the Crandall -Cowan property for the operation of a saw mill. He would require a one to 2 year lease, The board felt the present mill should be done away with and no more mills allowed to operate at that location. Correspondence was read under date of March 31st from Paul H. Chamberlain relative to removal of the Federal liens on the properties formerly, owned by Crandall and Cowan. He enclosed application for discharge from liens. to be filled out and filed with Mr. Phelan. After considerable discussion it was moved by Director Kaspian and second by Director Harman the District deposit $15000, 00 in the savings account at the 'Bzmk of Ctifornia, Auburn, California. It was so carried. General discussion was held on the Crandall -Cowan property as to rentals and repairs to be done. It was decided and estimate should be made on repairs to lodge floor and some painting would have to be done. It was suggested the Herron engineering Company be contacted as to cost of Ski lift. C . Z . Smith appeared before the board and outlined to the board the Districts Insurance program. A request was received from -the North Lake Tahoe Chamber of Commerce for the lease of a piece of property to erect sign on. The board felt no signs should be allowed on the piece of property they had in mind. it was reported by Manager Morey Hap Warnke had been in the office in- quiring as to price for installation of water and electricity in the Armstrong Subdivisions Minutes April 9, 1959 Continued 17 3 Mr, Ben L. Torres and Mr, Fletcher of the U . S . Treasury Department appeared before the board and requested the District have an ap- praisal made of the Crandall -Cowan property for the federal income tax lien which is against the property. After the regular meeting Manager Morey, Director Kaspian and Director Horman accompanied Mr, Torress and Mr. Fletcher and Edwin Crandall to the Crandall -Cowan Property. An appraisal was made of all personal property of Edwin Crandall.
