September 10, 1963
The members of the Board of Directors of the Truckee Public Utility
District met in a regular meeting at the office of the District on
Main Street, at 7:00 P.M.
Upon roll call the following Directors were noted present
Aweeka. McIver, Spil lner , Kaspian
Absent: Greenhouse
Also -Present: F.Longo, M. Midyett Guests: Paul VanFliet
The minutes of August 27, 1963 were read and approved.
Mr. David Vieu and Mr. Ermin . Hintz appeared before the Board concern-
ing overtime in the Water Dept, Mr.. Vieu felt he was not getting
enough pay for the work he was - doing . The Board advised the overtim e
had to be cut down. Director Kaspian asked the water crew if they
would be willing to take a day off each week to compensate for overtime
and Mr. Hintz and Manager Longo advised the water crew would not
beable to get much work done, that it would be almost impossible*
Director Kaspian asked Mr, Vieu if he would consider being put on a
monthly salami. Vieu statedhe would consider if paid enough. The
Board advised Mr. Vieu they would discuss his salary further and
requested they appear at the next regular meeting of the Board.
Mr. Fred Hodder, representing G .E . Lewis appeared before the Board
inregards to $1, 000.00 Mr. Lewis put up as warranty. Discussion ensued
OWNER and Mr. Hodder felt the flood was an act of god. The Directors felt
it was a defect in the way the - culverts had been put in. Mr. Hodder
was advised the Board was waiting to hear from Attorney Berliner
inregards to the release of the $1, 000.00 and suggested Mr. Hodder
write to Mr, Berliner asking him to send a prompt answer to the District..
Mr. Alvin Carveth of Carveth Insurance Agency appeared before the
Board... Discussion ensued and Mr. Carveth explained rates and
compared premiums* Mr . Carveth advised on the group insurance there
would be a savings of $763.44. On the Connecticut General Life
Insurance Co. the premium would be $108.35 per month. If the life
insurance was not included there would be a savings of $ 2.30 per month.
Director Spillner felt that employees could take out the life insurance
and the major medical if they so chose, but didfeel the District
dould not pay for it, Mr. Carveth was requested to send a breakdown
of the Group Insurance so it could be presented to the District's
employees. The Board agreed -the Group Insurance was quite reasonable
and there would be a savings. Manager Longo instructed Mrs. Midyett
to start with Connecticut General Life as of November lst .
ERROR Regarding Fire Ins* Mr. Carveth reported there would be a savings of
$35.00 per year, on liability, a savings up to 20%, Mr. Carveth
advised the compresensive general does not include explosion. The
Board advised Mr. Carveth they felt $101,000.00 would be sufficient
on the Employees Blanket Bond*- Mr, Carveth reported there would be
an overall savings of around $1, 200.00 a year. The Board agreed this
was quite a savings and Manager asked Mr . Carveth if the would beab e

to appear before the board at least twice year. Mr* Carveth stated
he would. Director Kaspian suggested June and December. Mr. Carveth
thanked the board and left the meeting at 8:25 P.M.
The following statements of bank balances, bills paid and due were
presented to the board for approval.

It was moved by Director Kaspian and second by Director McIver
that $3 , 000.00 be transfered from the electric department to the -
water department to pay the bills for boards approval and the
outstanding bills as listed. The -Nevada Aerial Survey bill in the
amount of $ 7 7 0.7 9 was not included*
It was moved by Director Kaspian and second by Director McIver that
Manager Longo be instructed to write ` to Mr. Vick advising subject
to his offer of $ 200.00 to survey the power line easement job the
District will require four copies of map, six copies of a profile
of the freewway crossing showing the location and clearances extend-
ing south to the point of line termination behind the highway shop .
Manager was instructed to have Mr, Vick ibitial his approval
contigent to paying him the $ 7 7 0.7 9 .
Manager reported a new billing machine was needed and quoted a price
he had received from Burroughs. The Directors felt a new machine
would be too expensive at this time.
It was the agreement of the Board that the allowances given to the
churches each month be discontinued.
Director Kaspian requested Manager contact Harold Berliner inregards
to Nevada Qnter County Title and start legal action within fifteen days,
Director McIver felt the District should use the $4, 650.00 to
relocate the line at Deerfield~
Manager reported he had heard nothing further on "Search for Tanks".
There being no further business to be brought before the Board
the meeting was adjourned at 9 30 P.M.
