HomeMy WebLinkAbout1963-12-07 Min - BoardTruckee, California December 7, 1963 Due notice having been posted a Special Meeting of the Board of Directors was held at the office of the District on Main Street December 7, 1963 at 2:60 P.M. Senator Paul Lunardi appeared before the Board and consideration discussion ensued concerning bureau power. Manager requested Senator Lunardi to look into the matter of Sierra- Plumas negotiations for-T.I over from P .G .&E . Director Kaspian brought up the contract with Sierra Pacific which stated the District could not buy power from any other source. Manager advised when the current rate was effective the District was never advised. Senator Lunardi stated in his opinion he did not believe the District was tied down to the contract. Senator Lunardi was presented with copies of recent Bureau correspond- ance and copies .of the Stampede Hydro Plant Proposal. Director Kaspian wanted to know how the District would negotiate on Stampede,, Kaspian inqured if the governor would beable to do somthing and Lunardi.'._ ad- vised the best way to approach PUC was to get to'ether with manager and contact a couple of members on the commission to get their feel- ings, then request a hearing with PUC. Manager reported last months peak demand, 1300 KW -District, 1,000 KW Topols, 354 KW Spaulding, 308 KW Sierra Studs, Rock Plant 2,050, The District will require 6,000 KW next year and an additional 108000 Kw within ten years, Senator Lunardi suggested we might augment source of supply from Sierra Pacific by purchases of power from other sources. Manager stated PUC was very reluctant to give consideration to our proposals. Manager advised Sierra Pacific seemed eager for the District to build sub -station. Sierra Pacific e.sc.Lation agreement with P .G .&E . for their purchased power. Present cost of power 6.38 mill average price at Norden. Manager advised Senator Lunardi the closes federal power was Folsom, which was not feasible. Manager advised P .G . & E . agreed to wheel power to Sierra Plumas and the District was only about twenty-two miles from their lines. It was agreed that the first stumpl ing block are the rates. Lunardi stated the rates should be taken on first and he would set up meetings after the holidays and notify Manager Longo.
