Upon roll call the following Directors were noted present: Aweeka f Firpo, Doyle, Rose - Absent: Fink _ _r Also present: Longo, Midyett Guests: Mrs. Edmunds, . So carried. _ Manager reported he had -discussed -the Water Depte account with the Bank of California and they - had instructed him to overdraft _ the water account until November 13th. at which time the District would beable to draw interest on the time deposit, , Eve Popov ich ,: Manager read letter --from Eve Popovich requesting the Board consider proposed water system.for the 13 lot sub- . division known as Donner Park vista . Discussion ensued and the r Board instructed manager to have - .Attorney Wetherall draw up the Agreement - providing - for service . of both water and electric _ exclusively. MANAGER REPORT: Manager advised Harkers crew completed _job . at Ray Mac Mill* Manager requested board consider giving him authorization to have Harker's crew put up crossarms for the entergizing of the Olympic Heights 1 ine . George Cattan stated we would beable to use a single phase for five years or more . Manager figured it would cost $ 24.00 per pole to -change insulators' and put up crossarms . Tim Best stated he didW t think the job would take over A days . Manager felt 233 Minutes October 27, 1964 Continued it would be more feasible to have Harker's crew do the complete job at this time. After due consideration the board instructed - manager to hire . Harker to change insulators and put up. crossarms . George Cattan, reported everything going well at sub -station and if weather permits should be finished by the end of next month. Director Doyle Inquired as to the present. - relationship between the District and Sierra Pacific Power Co. Manager reported there were no problems. Director Firpo inquired about the motel at Deerfield. Manager advised he had contacted Mr. Manzo and he did not want electric service from the Districts. Manager read letter he had written to Mr. Manzo giveing rate compairson between the District and Sierra Pacific. Discussion ensued inregards to changing attorneys. Director Firpo mentioned Mr. Chamberlain was familar with utility district problems and felt he would beable to help the District inregards to the Manzo problem. Director Doyle suggested the Board approach Mr. Chamberlain. Tom Dolley representing the Fire Commission appeared before the board and discussion ensued concerning fire hydrants. Manager stated he would like someone to assist the District in testing hydrants. Manager also mentioned stakes had to be put up at each hydrant before winter. Mr. Dolley-stated he would hire a man to assist the District whenever they were ready to do the testing. Director Doyle volunteered to ass it. In regards to the stakes, Mr. Dolley stated he would contact Ed Frates to get additional stakes. The number of hydrants in the Gateway area was discussed and Director Doyle stated it _would. be up to the property owners to petition the Fire District for additional hydrants* Manager mentioned the poor 1 igh t ing at the new fire house and ask the board to consider a street light being installed at the corner by the Texaco Service Station* Manager felt this would give more light at the fire house. Director Firpo suggested the. Fire District put up a security 1 ight . Manager advised the Fire District could not afford the expense of a security light at this time. The board felt if a street light was installed in that area the District would have to put lights all the way out passed the elementary school. The board thanked Mr. Dolley for attending the meeting. Mr. Dolley advised he would let the District know went they wanted additional lighting at the fire house. WATER: Manager reported line in alley would not be finished by Halloween. Director Firpo stated the alley line had to be watched Halloween week -end. Director Firpo suggested hiring two men for friday and saturday night* John Collier and Roy Waters were mentioned, also district crews Manager advised District crew would work on an overtime basis. Director Firpo stated it would be worth expense as there would be considerable damage to the line if not watched* Manager advised he would ask for volunteers. Manager advised Joe Britt was ready for promotion to foreman. The increase of salary would be 551tr per hour. The Board asked Tim Best his opinion on the matter. Best felt Britt wanted the pay, but not the job. Best advised Britt could do the job if khe work was layed out for him. After consideration the board felt Britt should remain in same posithn he is now and if eager and 234 - Minutes October1 27, 1954 Continued foreman felt he was entitled to a raise increase his. salary to $ 3.25 per hour* Best stated Britt' s attitude was $ 3.5 O or nothing. Manager advised he would propose $3.25 per hours to Britt . Manager stated his concern in the matter was not to burden Best. Director Doyle brought up the matter of the backhoe and felt the District should either get rid of -it or have it fixed. Manager advised in the winter ther was quite a bit of snow to be removed at the warehouse and the road to the pumps. Director Firpo- - suggested buying a new truck and put a plow on it. Director Aweeka suggested checking into surplus-. After consideration the board felt a new truck with plow would be more feasible. Manager was instructed- to decide what type of equipment would be most logical and then get estimates. There being no further business to be brought before the. board it was moved by Director Doyle and seconded by Director Rose the meeting be adjourned at 9: 25 P . M. } Edward No Aweeka, Chairman M.
