The members of the Board of Directors of the Truckee Public Utility
District met at a special meeting at the office of the District on
Main Street, Truckee, California at 7:30 P.M.
Upon Roll call the following directors were noted present:
Doyle, Rose, Firpo, Waters, Moore
.�•,. District Employees: Longo., Hublar
Guests: Ray & Tona Smith, Karl Kuttle, Nick Comola, Brien Walters
and various other contractors.
This meeting was convened for the purpose of awarding contracts for
the Engineers Bid.
MATERIAL BIDS
Bid item #1 through #6 was awarded to Record Supply Co.
Bid item #7 through #9 - no award
Bid item # 10 was awarded to Crane Supply Co.
Bid item #11 & #12 was awarded to Vincent Supply Co.
Bid item #13 was eliminated
Manager stated that Sacramento Utilities Supply Co. was not considered
on this bidding as they were on an all or none basis.
CONSTRUCTION BIDS
Manager stated that in addition there will be $1,500.00 odd material
items which the District will purchase. Manager suggested the bid
follow the recommendations to award.
Motion was made by Director Rose, seconded by Director Firpo that the
Bids follow the Recommendations to Award. So carried.
CONSTRUCTION
Bids were as follows:
ALPINE SMITH CONSTRUCTION COMPANY Total Bid $30,367.00
TERRY CONSTRUCTION COMPANY Total Bid $231795.00
A. TEICHERT AND SON, INC. Total Bid $41,280.00
ROBERT C. GEBHARDT Total Bid $241903.50
SIERRA PACIFIC CONSTRUCTION CO. Total Bid $20p7O9.00
HARKER & HARKER COMPANY Total Bid $24,001.25
Awards were given to Sierra Pacific Construction Company.
Waters asked Brien if he did any investigating of this company. Brien
stated that he has not but he knows the company to be a substantial
company. He stated he suspects no problems with this company as long
as they meet the bond at the meeting on Monday morning on June 3rd.
He will provide proof of insurance.
A motion was made by Director Rose, seconded by Director Firpo that the
award be given to Sierra Pacific Construction Company. So carried.
Brien stated that the low bidder has an 8 week delivery on construction
pipe, the pipe is a little better than the type specified. In order
to get the pipe in 3 weeks the District would have to accept weld pipe.
�-- Brien stated the pipe specifications bid is 19� less in the 10" and
7� on the 8". Total weld pipe would be $3,000. Brien stated it will
cost $2,000 more to get it done 5 weeks sooner. Brien also stated that
he would like to see the ruck dug at this time at the Gateway area
because it will be a 4" trench.
L. B. Fosters bid on 10" $1.90
L. B. Foster's bid on 8" $1.56
Manager stated that L. B. Foster would be low bidder according to the
figures. Manager stated that he would rather increase the material
price.
Brien stated that he came up with $1,278.00 cheaper than L. B. Foster
through the Record Supply Company and at a 2 weeks delivery time. Manager
stated that starting date of construction will be based on the delivery
date of the pipe.
Brien stated by the way of progress report that the base maps are completed
and all that needs to be done is the water. Inventory is being done also.
Brien stated he will make a report at the next regular meeting.
Brien stated no more information on rates, but he can get a finished draft of
water rules and regulations which will be brought up on the 4th. He
stated the first meeting in July he will have the Rate Recomanendations.
There being no further business to be brought before the Board
it was moved by Director Rose, seconded by Director Firpo meeting
be adjourned.
