SO MOVED. DISCUSSION AND POSSIBLE DIRECTION RE EMPLOYEE MEDICAL COVERAGE Dayton Sayer, Insurance Broker, introduced himself to the Board and proceeded to explain the existing Blue Cross Premier Line coverage which is currently in effect, but expires at the end of the year, and its "sister" plan, the Summit Line, which will take effect immediately upon expiration of the Premier coverage. The dental and vision plans, Mr. Sayer noted, would be the same. The Premier Line provides basic benefits and $1,000,000 in major med- ical benefits, requires a $100 deductible before benefits, pays 90 o until payments reach $1,800, and then pays 100o for the remainder of the calendar year. The Summit Line is a $2,000,000 hospital and major medical plan which requires a $100 deductible before benefits are paid, and then pays 80 0 of charges until payments reach $1,600; then, until the end of the calendar year, pays 100% of charges. Mr. Sayer stated that, although the District is not "Preferred," two other plans are available - one a comprehensive plan, and the other through PERS. There is a new business representative for Blue Cross in this area, Mr. Sayer advised, Beryl Knowles. He indicated he would be working with Ms. Knowles to make certain employee claims processed since May 1st have been based upon Premier rather than Summit coverage. Mr. Sayer also advised that he would be happy to appear before the employees to explain the different coverages. The Chairman stated that Jerry Wells of Stice and Wells Insurance Agency will be appearing before the Board on December 19th to make a proposal. After brief discussion with former Director VanLandingham regarding another insurance proposal, Director Duffy suggested that the Board invite this representative to also make a presentation. Director Maass inquired, "the man from Fresno?" The response was, "yes." Director Maass replied that, as one Director, he was not interested in hearing the man from Fresno. Thereafter, Director Duffy moved that the Board authorize Director Cor- bett to contact Mr. Troe Scher (of Fresno) and ask him to make a presentation on the 19th. Director Corbett seconded the motion. All Directors, aye, by voice vote. SO MOVED. CLOSED SESSION The Board adjourned to closed session at 6:52 P.M. RETURN TO PUBLIC SESSION The meeting was returned to public session at approximately 7:14 P.M. , and President Maass advised that personnel developments were discussed while in closed session. There was no action taken. ADJOURNMENT There being no further business before the Board, it was duly moved, seconded and passed that the meeting be adjourned at 7:15 P.M.
