Subject: March ‘98 Electric Department - Activity Report
AGENDA # 18
Electric Department crews worked on the following projects during the month of March:
The service crew installed 13 overhead and 6 underground new electrical services and
responded to 21 requests for underground facility locates (USA’s).
Crews continued to replace or add additional transformers to transformers that were
overloaded because of new construction and growth.
nd
Repairs to the 2 unit from Tahoe Donner substation continued in Westminster, Ca. The
transformer is scheduled to return to Truckee in late April.
The line crew continued changing the Lapp 72 insulators on the system. These have been
failing during times of heavy snow.
In Glenshire, crews replaced jumpers and a crossarm on a pole that need maintenance.
A small animal caused a field recloser to fail in Tahoe Donner. The crew removed the failed
recloser and installed a dead-end at that location to ease the re-installation of the repaired
recloser.
Members of the electric department received training on the new computer programs.
March was another month of extreme weather for the District. The crews kept busy responding to
storm related problems although the District experienced no major problems.
Bob has returned home to recover under Diane’s close watch. Bob is receiving cardiac physical
therapy and feels much better. He hopes to return to work in about a month.
