Subject: Water Department Monthly Activities Report for March 1998

WATER QUALITY:
The routine daily water quality sampling and testing program was completed as
required and all samples were good. The problem in the Olympic Heights area in
February was isolated to the Sanders well. The State Health Department required
public notification, which was direct mailed to all Olympic Heights residents and also
printed in the Sierra Sun.
The annual District water system report to State Health Department was completed.
MAINTENANCE, REPAIRS, & NEW CONSTRUCTION:
Staff repaired three water main leaks in the month.
Eleven USA locates were complete during the month.
Repaired four fire hydrants.
Connected six new water hookups
Completed permanent pavement repairs at various leak sites.
Completed a pipeline bypass/inter-tie at the Sanders Well location.
Performed snow removal at all district facilities.
SYSTEM OPERATIONS AND MAINTENANCE:
Worked on problems with the SCADA system.
Installed new fire flow pump at the Ponderosa Palisades Hydro Station.
Removed Airport Well pump and delivered to Chico for rebuild.
Began work on the first phase of the Innsbruck Booster Station upgrade.
Performed scheduled maintenance at system facilities.
PLANNING:
Back Alley Utilities Replacement Project:
Staff is working with representatives of other utilities or agencies to
coordinate the replacement or upgrade of all utilities in the alley behind
Commercial Row. The water department will replace the service laterals,
the water main is in good condition.
Town & Country Business Center:
This is a commercial project located on the Truckee Airport Road. Project
review is more complicated than usual because the parcel has to annex
into the District’s service area.
Sharp Subdivision:
This is a four-parcel subdivision. Project review is more complicated than
usual because the parcel has to annex into the District’s service area.
Thompson Subdivision:
This is a three-parcel subdivision. The routing of water lines and service
area pressures are being reviewed.
