HomeMy WebLinkAbout18 Staff Report TDPUD STAFF REPORT April 8, 1998 To: Board of Directors From: Kathy Neus, Support Services Manager Subject: Staff Report for March AGENDA # 18 VEHICLES 1. In preparation for the upcoming busy season, the District Mechanic has been giving all the big pieces of equipment and larger vehicles a good going through… new tires, brakes, windshields, hoses, door hinges, mirrors and service inspections. 2. There were four BIT inspections, three service inspections, numerous tire replacements, two aerial inspections and a dozen miscellaneous repairs. Three vehicles were taken out of service after the Board declared the trucks surplus. 3. Unit 17, one of the line trucks, had problems with the boom. Men were getting electrical shocks when up in the bucket. The boom failed a dielectric test. Fortunately, it only needed a thorough cleaning. 4. The last few months the District received three new vehicles. Tom spent time adding emergency lights, racks, tool bins, light bars so they could be place into service. METER READERS 1. The Meter Readers are staying current in their readings. The OMR meters have really been a blessing this past year; they lived up to our expectations and then some. There were 9,967 meters read, 178 service reports completed and 169 48hr/1013 notices delivered for the month. 2. The Meter Readers have a busy summer ahead. Besides the normal routine of reading meters and completing service reports, they will continue changing-out meters and performing annual seal checks and inspections. PURCHASING AND WAREHOUSING 1. Sue and Sam are still working on getting material for the upcoming summer season. The Electric and Water Planners have been working with Sue on ordering of material for specific jobs. 2. The bid specifications for wire and cable, transformers, padmount switches and voltage regulators were sent out. 3. With the approach of spring the Warehouseman has begun to schedule inventory cycle counts. It’s pretty amazing how much snow is left. Material located at the Teichert yard hasn’t surfaced yet. BUILDING AND GROUNDS 1. Replacement of filters, exit light batteries, painting and cleaning are being scheduled. 2. The Board Room air conditioner is finally repaired. The freeze sensor is connected and working; the temperatures have been set. If for any reason the Board Room seems too warm, the bypass can be used. I have been working on finishing up the carpet in the District’s Office. The stairs have yet to be done but that was not part of the contract. I have also been becoming familiar with the safety files. Annual health screenings have been rdth scheduled for April 23 and 24. Some other ideas for the Wellness Program are a back class, continuation of the healthy lunch program, a stress management class and videos on workstations and reviewing general safety. Some time has been spent helping prepare for the audit, getting information together on the equipment management system. The Meter Reader Coordinator and I sat down and put together the 1998 meter change-out program that includes dates and manpower requirements. I continue to meet with my staff regularly to talk about what is happening and to see if there are any concerns that I need to deal with. We are also meeting and reviewing the job descriptions by objectives. KN/smc
