HomeMy WebLinkAbout1998-04-15 Agenda Packet - Board (41) TDPUD STAFF REPORT April 9, 1998 To: Board of Directors From: Stephen Hollabaugh, filling in for the Electric Superintendent Subject: Glenshire Drive Bridge AGENDA # 6 Background: The Town of Truckee plans to replace Glenshire Drive Bridge. At the time of replacement, the PUD would like to include electrical conduits crossing the bridge. The town included a line item in their Bridge Construction Bid for the inclusion of such facilities. The town has let a contract to the firm of Shasta Constructors to construct a new bridge to replace the existing Glenshire Drive Bridge and demolish the former bridge. The District has provided the Town with its specifications for the installation of two 6” conduits and three vaults to cross the new Glenshire Bridge. The Town has competitively bid this item and Shasta Constructors, the low bidder, has agreed to provide that item of work for the sum of $30,000. The agreement for this work between the District and the Town is attached. The work involved in installing the conduits consist of installing pipe hangers from the bridge deck, trenching as required in the roadway approaches, placing concrete vaults, installing conduits and backfilling and compacting. The total lineal footage crossing the bridge in about 1,100 feet and includes three vaults. The $30,000 cost from Shasta Contractors is under the Districts estimated budget for this item. This may be due to joint trenching with other utilities that brings down the trenching cost per foot. The Town also requests that the Utility designate a project representative. The District would like to designate Joe Horvath as the project representative for the Utility. Recommendation I recommend that the Board approve the Agreement with the Town of Truckee (copy attached) concerning installation and use of Utility Lines and facilities on the Glenshire Drive Bridge in the amount of $30,000 and that Joe Horvath be designated as the project representative for the Utility.
