Memorandum
To: Board of Directors
From: Peter Holzmeister
Date: May 30, 2003
Subject: Declaring property on South West River Street as surplus
WHY THE MATTER IS BEFORE THE BOARD:
This matter involves possible declaration of District-owned property as surplus. Only the
board can declare property surplus.
HISTORY:
At the last meeting the Board discussed in a workshop setting the possibility of declaring
four parcels on South West River Street as surplus. Attached is a map showing the four
parcels. I was directed to list this as an agenda item for action by the Board.
The owners of land to the west of our parcels would need to acquire at least a portion of
our land to gain access to their parcel. I received a call from their representative asking
again that we consider selling our land for their access.
I again remind the Board that Nick Sassarini is land locked by our parcels. I think we
should do something to solve Nick's problem.
NEW INFORMATION:
I have no new information to offer at this time. If the Board declares this property
surplus we will give standard notice to public agencies. We will also begin the process
of having it appraised.
RECOMMENDATION:
I recommend that the board adopt the resolution declaring APNs 19-130-26, 19-139-27,
19-130-28 and 19-130-29 as surplus and authorize staff to offer then for sale or lease to
the required public agencies
