As you are aware, I have written you in the past regarding the Green Point Water Tanks. I understand that these leaky tanks were inherited by the TDPUD from the Donner Lake Water Company after a Condemnation Hearing. We also understand that condemnation is still in progress. Through attending TDPUD Public Meetings and being a member of a laison group to the TDPUD, called the Donner Lake Citizens Oversight Committee, I have been made aware monthy of all the on going progress and governmental process that has been occuring to move toward abandoning these tanks and providing customers with other water sources. To date, we understand that these tanks remain a critical component for some customers to have drinking water, until an adequate well and tie line are brought into service. We are aware that you have been moving aggresively to relieve the dilapidated water problems caused by Donner Lake Water Company, and commend you and your staff for that. We watched while careful measures were taken to keep contaminant and erosion from entering Donner Lake during your Capital Improvement Project at Donner Lake. We have been concerned for some time about some other drainage issues emanating from Interstate 80 and Donner Lake Road diversions and maintenance failures. We have for years been attempting to get Caltrans and the Town of Truckee to address these issues, but to date no action has occurred. We are concerned regarding the problems of road and air contaminant and erosion sediment entering Donner Lake. We have approached Robin Mahoney of the Lahonton Regional Water Control Agency to look into the matter. I will also send you correspondence we have had with the District Director for Caitran, Jody Lonergan. I am trying to get all those organizations and associations around Donner Lake to help on this issue. I will forward you the response that I have already received from Robert Farnsworth, President of the Donner Lake Property Owners Association. Additionally I will send other pertinent information regarding the drainage concerns. Would you present these concerns to your Board in the next meeting? We are asking that you write a letter to the Town, to help put pressure on the Town and Caltrans to deal specifically with the tack of filtering of the air and road contaminant coming from 1-80, West Reed Avenue, Donner Pass Road and any other road carrying drainage into Donner Lake. Additionally, we would ask repair of drainage structures that have not been maintained and have allowed water drainage to cause erosion and carry sediment into the lake. The quality of the lake affects all who use it, which of course includes all the Donner Lake residents, your water customers. . We would appreciate your participation in this effort to address significant issues of water quality in Donner Lake. Would you be so kind to keep me informed of any action that the board would find appropriate. If I can answer any questions, I will do so. Thank you for your consideration. Emilie Kashtan, representative Green Point Property Owners Committee
