WHY THIS MATTER IS BEFORE THE BOARD Board approval is required for equipment purchases over $15,000. 2. HISTORY During winter storms the Electric Department finds itself struggling to access and repair lines that are not installed directly adjacent to maintained roadways. This snow vehicle will assist in patrolling lines and transporting crews and/or material into areas that are difficult to access. The Board approved in the 2004 Electric Department Budget, funding ($122,130) for a Snow Vehicle within Electric Operations Capitol Equipment. This purchase will be funded by an equipment loan which is to be re-paid out of rates. 3. NEW INFORMATION Specifications were prepared and a request for bids was advertised for an Electric Department Snow Vehicle. Bids were received and a bid opening was held on September 29, 2004. One Bid was received. The results of the Bid Opening are as follows. Bidder Location Amount Kassbohrer All Terrain Vehicles, Inc Reno, Nevada $110,265.00 This bid meets all of the specifications for the Electric Department Snow Vehicle. 4. RECOMMENDATION Staff recommends that the Board award the purchase of an Electric Department Snow Vehicle to Kassbohrer All Terrain Vehicles, Inc of Reno, Nevada in the amount of$110,265.00.
