HomeMy WebLinkAbout14 Salary Scale Exempt Employees Agenda Item # Iq TRUCKEE DONNER Utility Memorandum To: Board of Directors From: Peter Holzmeister Date: January 29, 2004 Subject: Salary scale for management and exempt employees 1. Why this matter is before the board: This matter involves consideration of the salary scale for management and exempt employees. The board sets salary scales for that group of employees. 2. History: The board has established a salary scale for management and exempt employees. I am authorized to place employees at a point within that range based on my judgment. The idea is that the scale would be reviewed periodically to keep it current with comparable salaries. A copy of the current and proposed salary scale is attached. 3. New information: We have an agreement with the IBEW Local 1245 regarding hourly wages for employees for 2004 which calls for a 3% increase. It also includes various equity wage increases to let them catch up with the wages paid in comparable organizations. I would like the board to consider increasing the management and exempt salary scale by 3%. 4. Recommendation: (1) 1 recommend that the board adopt the amended salary scale for management and exempt employees effecting a 3% increase, retroactive to January 1, 2004 (2) The salary of the general manager is set by ordinance. I recommend that the board schedule a public hearing to consider the salary of the general manager and that a closed session be scheduled to conduct a review of my performance. 1/30/04 AGENDA ITEM# CURRENT MANAGEMENT SALARY STEPS Admin Water Electric Electric Water Electric Water Support General Assistant Services Utility Utility Telecom System S sv tem Superin- Superin- Services GIS co- Planning Senior Executive Steps Manager GM Manager Manager Manager Manager Engineer Engineer tendent tendent Manager ordinate r Director Accountant Secretary Step 5 123,600 113,300 92,700 92,7 1 92,700 1 92,700 1 87,550 1 87,550 82,400 82,400 1 77,250 80,340 74,160 74,160 51,500 Step 119,480 109,180 1 89,610 1 89,610 1 89,6101 89,610 1 84,872 84,872 80,340 80,340 74,778 77,044 71,688 71,688 1 49,440 Step 3 115,360 105,060 1 86,520 1 86,520 1 86,520 86,520 82,194 82,194 78,280 L 78,280 1 72,306 73,748 69,216 69,216 47,380 Step 111,240 100,940 1 83,430 83,430 83,430 83,430 79,516 79,516 76,220 76,220 69,834 70,452 66,744 66,744 45,320 Step 1 107,120 96,820 1 80,340 80,340 80,3-4-OT 80,340 1 76,838 76,838 1 74,1651 74,1601 67,362 67,156 64,272 64,272 43,260 Entry 103,000 92,700 77,250 77,250 77,250 77,250 74,160 74,160 72,100 72,100 64,890 63,860 61,800 1 6 1,800 41,200 PROPOSED MANAGEMENT SALARY STEPS Admin Water Electric Electric Water Electric Water Support General Assistant Services Utility utility Telecom S sv tem S stem Superin- Superin- Services GIS co- Planning Senior Executive 3tep5 Manager GM Manager Manager Manager Manager Engineer Engineer tendent tendent Manager ordinate r Director Accountant Secretary 3tep5 127,308 1 116,699 95,481 95,481 95,481 95,481 90,177 90,177 84,872 84,872 79,568 82,750 76,385 76,385 53,045 itep 4 123,064 112,455 92,298 92,298 92,298 92,298 87,418 87,418 82,750 82,750 77,021 79,355 73,839 73,839 50,923 itep 3 118,821 1 108,212 1 89.116 89,116 89,116 89,116 84,660 84,660 80,628 80,628 74,475 75,960 1 71,292 71,292 48,801 ite 2 114,577 j3,9681 85,933 85,933 85,933 85,933 81,901 81,901 78,507 I78,507 71,929 72,566 68,746 68,746 46,680 >tep 1 110,334 99,725 82,750 82,750 82,750 82,750 79,143 79,143 76,385 76,385 69,383 697171 66,200 66,200 44,558 _ntry 106,090 95,481 79,568 79,568 79,568 79,568 76,385 76,385 74,263 74,263 66,837 65,776 63,654 63,654 42,436 ..................
