WHY THIS MATTER IS BEFORE THE BOARD Additional work was required by the consultant to supervise the Prosser Village Production well. Change orders require Board approval. 2. HISTORY The Board approved the contract with AquaHydrogeologic consulting at its August 20th, 2003 meeting for a total of$78,870.00 for supervision and documentation during the Prosser Village Production Well Drilling Program. The original scope of work and cost estimate projected that the drilling, construction, and air-lift development of the production well would take approximately 15 days and the cost associated with this projection would be $36,940. 3. NEW INFORMATION The Contractor(Zim Industries, Inc.) hired to drill the Prosser Village Production Well took longer then anticipated. AquaHydrogeologic incurred additional costs for the supervision of that drilling. 4. RECOMMENDATION Staff recommends that the Board approve the change order in the amount of$41,000, bringing the new total project cost to $119,870. November 19, 2003 Mr. Ed Taylor Water Utility Manager Truckee Donner Public Utility District 11570 Donner Pass Road Truckee, CA 96160 RE: Revised Cost Estimate for Prosser Village production well drilling supervision and data collection Dear Ed: I am providing you with an update of the cost estimate for the Prosser Village production well supervision and data collection due to the numerous delays and problems that have been encountered during the drilling program to date. In the original scope of work and cost estimate it was projected that the drilling, construction, and air-lift development of the production well would take approximately 15 days. The cost associated with this projection was $36,940. As of today we have been in the field for 19 days and have reached a cost in excess of$41,000. In making a projection on how much longer the field work will take place is difficult, because of ZIM's performance to date. However, if the construction and development can be wrapped up in 15 days, the additional cost to the contract would be approximately$37,000 plus the approximately $4,000 of overage costs that have already been incurred. This would make the total project cost of$119,870 instead of the original estimate of$78,870. If you have any questions, please contact me at(775) 250-9700. Sincerely, O 1 David Carlson VO.
