Why this matter is before the board Board approval is required for equipment purchases over$15,000. History As part of the Donner Lake reconstruction project, the Hydropneumatic Pump Station at Red Mountain needs to be replaced. Part of the replacement of this Pump Station is a package pumping system. Staff has estimated the cost for this pumping package to be approximately $ 35,000. Funding for this project is part of the Donner Lake Assessment District. New Information Specifications for the pumping system were distributed and advertised for in accordance with the statutory requirement that we seek competitive bids. The Bid Opening for the Hydropneumatic Package Pump System was scheduled for November 9, 2005. No bids were received. Recommendation Since we have complied with the statutory requirement that we seek competitive bids and received no qualified bids, we are now able to negotiate with vendors to get the best price possible. Therefore I recommend that the board take the following action: s s 1. Authorize staff to negotiate the purchase of the Hydropneumatic Package Pump System contained in the bid process; i i •Page 1
