Why are we talking about this at
this time ?
• We need to comply with the new California
Assembly Bill (A. B . ) 1825 .
• Mandated for employers with 50 or more
employees to provide two hours of sexual
harassment training to supervisors and
managers by January 1 , 2006 .
Sexual harassment/discrimination
is only one kind that is prohibited .
• All forms of harassment and discrimination
need to be defined .
• Race , religion , age , disabilities are just a
few.
• This deals with employees , as well as
customers , suppliers , contractors , and
applicants .
Current District Policy
• Only prohibits discrimination in
employment.
• We have no specific policy dealing with
harassment and how to deal with it.
What is our goal ?
• Have proper written policies in place .
• Conduct necessary training to supervisors ,
managers , and employees to identify and
prevent inappropriate conduct.
• Outline procedures to deal with claims of
harassment.
What to do about it?
• Implement a District policy prohibiting all
forms of discrimination and harassment
covering employees , customers , vendors ,
contractors , and anyone who deals with
the District.
• Provide the training for employees that not
only provides the required sexual
harassment training , but includes all forms
of prohibited harassment.
