Memorandum To: Board of Directors From: Jim Wilson, Electrical Superintendent Date: June 30, 2005 Date of Board Meeting: July 6, 2005 Subject: BID AWARD FOR PURCHASE OF METERS 1. WHY THIS MATTER IS BEFORE THE BOARD Board approval is required for equipment purchases over$15,000. 2. HISTORY Staff included and the Board approved in the 2005 Electric Department Budget, funding ($111,000) for electric meter purchase and testing. This purchase will be funded by a combination of rates and customer contributions. These meters are used for revenue metering. They will be used partially for the District's continuing meter replacement program that replaces of the existing electro-mechanical meters with electronic, remote read meters. As well, a portion of these meters will be used for new installations which sustain the cost of the meter and it's installation. These meters allow the District to read commercial customers with our Itron automated meter reading system. 3. NEW INFORMATION Bids have been opened and publicly read for the District's purchase of 24 tranformer rated (20A) 9S solid-state, multi-measurement, multi-function Polyphase electronic meters and 96 self contained (200A) 16S solid-state, multi-measurement, multi-function Polyphase electronic meters with the ability to measure and display real and apparent power. Attached is a summary of the bid information received. Name Total Price Wesco Distribution, Inc. $56,347.68 General Pacific $46,638.00 4. RECOMMENDATION I recommend the Board approve the purchase of Polyphase meters from General Pacific with a total price of$46,638.00, not including sales tax.
