HomeMy WebLinkAbout4 NCPA Commissioner Agenda Item # Public i Memorandum To: Board of Directors From: Peter Holzmeister Date: February 23, 2005 Subject: Appointing NCPA commissioner and Alternate Why this matter is before the board: This matter involves appointing a member of the board to represent our District on the NCPA Commission and to appoint an alternate NCPA commissioner. History: Steve Hollabaugh described our involvement in NCPA at the board workshop meeting two weeks ago. NCPA is an important partner of ours in our management of wholesale power supply and costs. For many years, Jim Maass was the NCPA commissioner from Truckee. With Jim leaving our board, we need to appoint a new NCPA commissioner. Director Taylor has attended the NCPA annual strategic plan meeting and is willing to accept appointment as NCPA commissioner. Historically, the other directors of TDPUD have been nominally identified as alternate commissioners, along with the general manager. Steve Hollabaugh is the District's power supply engineer. He has been attending NCPA meetings each month for the past few years. He is completely informed about NCPA programs and issues. He has worked closely with Jim Maass during the past few years on NCPA matters. I believe he is the best person to serve as alternate commissioner. It would be most difficult for any other director or for me to serve as alternate commissioner. It requires a person who is following NCPA issues to attend an NCPA commission meeting, and participate in the discussion and vote. Recommendation: I recommend that the board designate Director Tim Taylor as NCPA commissioner and Steve Hollabaugh as alternate commissioner.
