Subject: Authorization to reimburse the Electric General Fund from the Electric Building Fund
for the installation of video equipment installed to televise board meetings
BACKGROUND:
On February 2, 2005, the Board authorized staff to purchase and install the necessary equipmen o
televise regular TDPUD meeting live on Truckee Tahoe Channel 6 at a cost not to exceed $12,500.
As you know, the project has been completed and regular meetings are being televised. The total
cost to install cameras and ancillary video equipment was $13,372.15, $872.15 over the amount
budgeted.
NEW INFORMATION:
The District has also received a bill from Cebridge Connections for equipment and fiber-optic cable to
enable Channel 6 telecasts in the amount of $4,763. This additional cost was not anticipated at the
time the Board authorized staff to move forward in that an analog connection that would enable the
telecast was in place. it was not until Cebridge chose to dismantle the analog feed and replace it
with a fiber-optic feed that we became aware of a possible additional cost. We are currently working
with Town staff in hopes of having this charge zeroed out as part of the requirements set forth in
Cebridge's Cable Television Franchise with the Town of Truckee.
SOURCE OF FUNDING:
The funding for this project was to be taken from the Electric Building Fund which currently has a
balance of$281,447.81.
RECOMMENDATION:
1. Authorize staff to transfer$13,372.15 from the Electric Building Fund to reimburse the
Electric General Fund;
2. Authorize staff to expend an additional $4,763 from the Electric Building Fund if
installation of equipment to enable Channel 6 telecasts
