Subject: Continuation of Tahoe Donner substation transformer replacement
emergency
The Board has adopted a resolution finding and declaring that an emergency exists with
regard to replacement of a damaged transformer at the Tahoe Donner electric
substation. The resolution authorizes that the District dispense with competitive bidding
for replacement of the transformer. Under the terms of the law authorizing the District to
take this emergency action, we must confirm at each subsequent meeting that the
emergency is continuing, until such time as the emergency is ended.
The replacement transformer has been ordered. It will take about four months for it to
be delivered. We recently received an email to arrange a ship date in January 2006.
RECOMMENDATION: I recommend that the board adopt a motion confirming that the
Tahoe Donner substation transformer replacement emergency continues.
