HomeMy WebLinkAbout8 Brockway Road Transmission Agenda Item # NNER r,-' U' TRU&EE . District Memorandum To: Board of Directors From: Neil Kaufman Date: December 26, 2005 Subject: Brockway Road Transmission Pipeline Crossing of The Union Pacific RR 1. Why this matter is before the board: Board authorization is required for expenditures in excess of$15,000. 2. History: Jessica Kosfiszer and I have been working on the design of the Brockway Road Transmission Pipeline with the project planned for construction during the Summer of 2006. 3. New information: One component of the Brockway Road Transmission project involves crossing railroad tracks from East River Street to Donner Pass Road. A 36-inch diameter casing would be installed by bore &jack methods and the new 24-inch water pipeline would then be installed inside the casing. This crossing requires permission from the Union Pacific Railroad (UPRR) to install the pipeline on railroad property. The planned location of this pipeline crossing is shown on Figure 1. In the Spring of 2005, 1 submitted an application to the UPRR to cover this pipeline crossing. Normally, UPRR takes about six months to process an application so it was necessary to submit the application at that time. UPRR approved the application in a timely manner with minor modifications, and return the attached Pipeline Crossing Agreement to be completed by the District. A fee of $15,420.00 is also due to UPRR associated with the pipeline crossing. 4. Recommendation: I recommend that the Board: a) Approve the Pipeline Crossing Agreement with the Union Pacific Railroad. b) Authorize a payment of$15,420.00 to the Union Pacific railroad with the funding source to be Facility Fees.
