WHY THIS MATTER IS BEFORE THE BOARD Board approval is required for expenditures in excess of $15,000. 2. HISTORY The District is rebuilding the Donner Lake Substation to increase station capacity, add another feeder, improve coordination with the adjacent transmission line, improve protection of substation equipment, and provide compliance with current code requirements. The initial engineering work began on this project in 2007. Since that time, there has been ongoing work associated with design and permitting of the improvements covered under this construction contract. 3. NEW INFORMATION The bid opening was held at 2:00 PM on July 1, 2014. Eight bids were received. A summary of the bids is given below: Bidder Location Amount Responsive Lon o Inc. FISCAL IMPACT The lowest responsive and responsible bid is $226,986.00. The funding source for this work is Electric Department Facility Fees. It is also recommended that a 10 percent change order allowance be established. 5. RECOMMENDATION a) Award the Donner Lake Substation Civil Improvements to Longo Incorporated in the amount of $226,986.00 plus a 10 percent change order allowance for a total amount not to exceed $250,000. b) Authorize the transfer of up to $250,000 from Electric Department Facilities Fees to the Electric Department General Fund. 1 Michael D.
