Agenda Item #
Public Utility District I
Memorandum
To: Board of Directors
From: Neil Kaufman
Date: September 25, 2007
Subject: Routing of Public Bike/Pedestrian Trail on District Property
1. WHY THIS MATTER IS BEFORE THE BOARD
The Board requested additional information regarding the route of the planned Bike/Pedestrian
Trail on District property.
2. HISTORY
The information below is provided in accordance with the District's Objective No. 3 — Manage
the District in an Open Manner.
The Town of Truckee Trails & Bikeways Master Plan calls for a paved trail running from Trails
End Road at Pioneer Commerce Center to Bridge Street. The trail segment is actually located
upon land owned by the District. This land has been identified as the site of the District's new
corporation yard.
A condition of the Development Agreement between East-West Partners (EWP) and the Town
of Truckee for the Gray's Crossing project calls for EWP to construct the trail. At the September
19, 2007 meeting, the Board granted permission for EWP to construct the trail on District
property. The Board also asked for a map showing the planned route for the trail.
3. NEW INFORMATION
Figure 1 shows the approximate routing of the trail. The actual route for the portion running
northwest away from Interstate 80 through the trees has been selected to minimize tree
removal. There is a series of orange stakes on the property that show the route.
4. SOURCE OF FUNDING
There is no funding required by the District. The costs associated with construction of the trail
and preparation of the legal description will be paid by EWP.
