Home My WebLink About8 Management salary plan Agenda Item # III ,, DONNER Public Utility District J, Memorandum To: Board of Directors From: Peter Holzmeister Date: February 16, 2007 Subject: Management and professional salary plan Why this matter is before the Board: This matter involves adopting a salary scale and establishing a salary range within that scale for various management and professional employees of the District. History: I approached the Board of Directors several months ago with a proposal to adjust the management and professional staff salary scale. A suggestion was made to conduct a compensation survey before taking formal action. The purpose of the compensation survey would be to test whether the District's current salary plan was competitive with comparable agencies so that we could attract and retain a competent staff. The District contracted with Koff & Associates of Emeryville, California to conduct the compensation study and the report was presented to the Board of Directors. The study resulted in development of a revised salary plan consisting of sixty- four salary ranges, each salary range having five steps from minimum to maximum salary. The salary plan establishes an arithmetically consistent series of ranges and steps. The ranges have a consistent differential of 2.5% and the steps have a consistent differential of 5.0%. New information: Based on the data in the compensation study, attached is a proposed salary plan for 2007, set at the 75th percentile for comparable agencies. Also attached is a listing of the District's managerial and professional positions and my recommendation of the ranges for placement of those positions.
