Subject: 80''Anniversary of the Truckee Donner Public Utility District
Why is this item before the Board?
Staff would like Board direction as to what type of celebration activities, if any, could take
place to celebrate its 8& birthday, May 27, 2007.
Background / Summary
On May 7, 1927, the Truckee Donner Public Utility District was formed by the Truckee
community to provide electric service. During 2002, the District promoted it's 750
anniversary in a number of ways including the creation of a 75 logo, and associated
lapel pins, letterhead, signs and vehicle decals, holding a very successful Truckee
Donner Chamber of Commerce mixer and hosting a Truckee Donner PUD day at West
End Beach.
New Information
One of the ideas that did not come to fruition in 2002 was to re-print of old TDPUD
articles in the Sierra Sun on a monthly basis. This idea, while not as splashy as the
events held in 2002, is relatively inexpensive and would give today's Truckee community
some incite on the District's history.
Recommendation
Staff is not recommending any formal action at this time however would like to receive
the Board's thoughts as to what type of celebration, if any, should take place this year.
