1. WHY T HIS MAT T ER IS BEFORE T HE BOARD
Board action i s required for expenditure s in excess of $15,000.
2. HIST ORY
The District has been constructing a disaste r recovery buildi ng at the Di strict's Trail
End Road property (Co rporation Yard). Thi s locati on wi l l ensure tru e network and
data continuance i n the event of a loss or failu re of the mai n data center located in the
main District offices. The bui l ding compl eti on has rea ched the poi nt where computer
support infrastructure is ready for implementa ti on. A portion of the computer support
i nfrastructure i ncludes server cages, cable support ra cks and communication cable
splice panels.
3. NEW INFORMAT ION
The National Joi nt Powers Alliance (NJPA) competiti vel y bid equipment from Ani xter
and other vendors as p art of governme nt bid program. Power cooperatives, i ncludi ng
the Di str i ct, are el i gible to take advantage of t hese bids through NJPA. The computer
networki ng equi pment bid from Anixter i nclude s items requi red to support the securi ty,
stability and proper cooling of the network eq uipment i ncluded as Atta chment 1. Staff
obtained a quote necessary to support the server infrastructure at the Corporati on
Yard in the amount of $18,177 i ncludi ng tax.
4. FISCAL IMPACT
Sufficient funds exist wi thin the approved FY1 5 District capital budgets for this project.
Costs wi l l be billed to the Electric Department.
5. RECOMMENDAT ION
Authori ze the purchase of network infrastructure equi pment total i ng $18,177 pl us tax
from Anixter.
