1. WHY T HIS MAT T ER IS BEFORE T HE BOARD
This item is a recommendation that certain ve hicles be declared surplus and di sposed
of in accordance with Di stri ct poli cy. On l y the Board can decl are vehicl e s as surplus.
2. HIST ORY
District policy governing the disposal of s urpl us property requi res the General
Manager and staff to eval uate the conti nued n eed for materials, office equipment and
vehicl es. If any items are found to be n o long er necessary, staff is to submit a report
to the Board declaring the items surpl us.
3. NEW INFORMAT ION
Staff has evaluated the current vehicl e fleet a nd has identified one vehicle that should
be decl a red as surplus.
In 1996 the Electric Department purchased th e fl at bed, boom truck. Then in 2011 the
truck was modi fied to meet W ater Department needs.
Uni t 342 has now reached the end of i ts u seful l i fe and should be sold at public
auction.
4. FISCAL IMPACT
Proceeds from the sale of this vehicle, from Publi c Aucti on, will be divided equal l y and
transferr ed to the respective W ater and El e ctri c Dep artment Vehicl e Replacement
Funds.
5. RECOMMENDAT ION
Declare Unit 342 as su rplus, and appl y equ al porti ons of the sal e proceeds to the
W ater and El ectric Department Vehi cle Repla cement Funds.
