HomeMy WebLinkAbout7 Award Bid for RTUsPage 1 of 2AgendaItem#7TRUCKEEDONNER,PublicUtilityDistrict-----~-~------------- -CONSENTTo:From:Date:Subject:BoardofDirectorsRoeVernonMarch02,2016ConsiderationofAwardingaBidforPLC-BasedRemoteTelemetryUnits(RTUs)1.WHYTHISMATTERISBEFORETHEBOARDBoardapprovalisrequiredforprocurementover$15,000.2.HISTORYOntheMay02,2012Boardmeeting,aworkshopwaspresentedtodiscusstheDistrict'sexistingWaterSystem'sSupervisoryControlandDataAcquisition(SCADA)systemandtheplannedproposalforitsreplacement.TheDonnerLakeportionofthewatersystemhasbeenupgradedtothelatestSCADAsoftwareandPLCcontrols.Thissystemhasbeenrunningsuccessfullyforoverayearnow.TheGlenshireportionofthewatersystemisinitsfinalstagesoftheSCADAupgrade,andwillgoonlinesoon.ThenextphaseoftheSCADAupgradeincludesthewellsandtwocontrolvalvesbetweenthe6170tankandtheSomaSierratank.3.NEWINFORMATIONThisphaseoftheupgraderequiresthepurchaseofsixRTUcabinetsandPLCcontrollers;hardwarewhichwillreplacetheexistingSandal-Averytechnology,bringingtheselocationsuptothelatesttechnologyandincorporatingtheir operationsintoboththeDonnerLakeandGlenshireportionsofthewatersystem.ThesenewcabinetsarecompatiblewiththeexistingcabinetsandreflectthecurrentlyforecastedneedsforautomationfunctionsasdefinedbytheDistrict'sSCADAEngineerandtheWaterDepartment.ArequestforBidsforthisphaseoftheSCADAprojectwasissuedonJanuary28,2016.TheDistrictadvertisedintheSierraSunonFebruary3,2016.
