HomeMy WebLinkAbout14 Un-represented Employees Pay Adjustmentenda Item To: Board of Directors From: Kim Harris Date: March 01, 2017 Subject: Consideration of Un-represented Employees Pay Adjustment 1. WHY THIS MATTER IS BEFORE THE BOARD The Board must approve wage scale adjustments for District un-represented employees. 2. HISTORY At the January 2017 Board meeting, the Board confirmed a 1.45% wage adjustment based on October CPI-W approved at the December 2015 Board meeting. The Board also approved to appoint the General Manager as the District negotiator with the un- represented (management and technical) employees and set parameters for wage negotiations. The General Manager met with the un-represented employees group and discussed the results of the negotiation with the Board in closed session at the February2017 Board meeting. 3. NEW INFORMATION The results of the negotiation resulted in the Board agreeing to a 3.2% wage scale adjustment (inclusive of the 1.45% CPI-W adjustment approved at the January 2017 Board meeting), a 1 % 2017 year-end merit bonus for performance that will be based on a wage policy that is to be developed and signed by un-represented employees for 4. FISCAL IMPACT The approved 3.2% wage range adjustment will exceed the 3% budgeted wage increase by 1.2%. Savings and efficiencies identified in the District's operations are sufficient to provide for the difference. 5. RECOMMENDATION Approve the 2017 Unrepresented (Management and Technical) Wage Ranges that reflect a 3.2% increase from 2016 wage ranges effective January 1, 2017 and the 1 % 2017 year-end merit bonus for performance for un-represented employees.
