Subject: Consideration of a Change Order for the Design of the District's
Administration Building Remodel
1. WHY THIS MATTER IS BEFORE THE BOARD
Board approval is required to increase an authorized change order allowance.
2. HISTORY
The District's current building was built in the mid to late 1980's. The foyer and lobby
have remained unchanged for the past 30 years.
At the May 4, 2016 Board meeting the Board awarded a contract to Fringe Design for
the design phase of the remodel.
3. NEW INFORMATION
A committee comprised of Customer Service staff and Facility Maintenance was
working their way through the design process, the original plan continued to change.
The original concept was for an open floor plan but with a change in staff duties the
office space was changed to include separate offices. Which in turn required
designing a new mail room and changing the entrance to the vault area.
With an emphasis on safety and security, staff requested that Fringe Studio look into a
different configuration of the stairway to the second floor. The new scope included
replacing the main entrance with a heated walkway.
4. FISCAL IMPACT
There are sufficient funds within the Electric General Fund.
5. RECOMMENDATION
Authorize an additional change order for the Foyer and Lobby Remodel in the amount
of $11,700 for an increase in the scope of work, for a total project amount of $59,990
