Holley Date: August 01, 2018 Subject: Consideration of Resolution 2018=16 Commending Stephen "Steve" Hollabaugh for His Years of Service 1. WHY THIS MATTER IS BEFORE THE BOARD It is the Board's purview to adopt District Resolutions, 2. HISTORY Steve Hollabaugh started his career after graduating Cal Poly State University in 1985, becoming a Professional Electric Engineer. Accepting a job right out of college for PG&E, Steve found power supply ever challenging and the career of a lifetime. In April 1994, he took a position as the District's Electrical Engineer. Eventually becoming the Electric Utility Manager and Power Supply Engineer. In 2000, he was promoted to Assistant General Manager. Steve has been a valuable resource to the District, it's customers, and the community as a whole. Steves expertise in the management of a diverse power supply portfolio and in the cap and trade of power has been priceless. Furthermore, participation in the political arena of public power including; relationships and service with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), Northern California Power Association (NCPA), American Public Power Association (APPA), and California Municipal Utilities Association (CMUA). Steve represents the District and serves on the Board of Utah Associated Municipal Power Systems (UAMPS) since 2006. UAMPS is a Public Power consortium of 45 members from Utah, California, Idaho, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, and Wyoming. In Steve's tenure, he has achieved a high ranking degree of recognition through American Public Power Association (APPA) designation of Reliable Public Power Provider (RP3). This prestigious award has shown the District's commitment to public power and our commitment to our community. 3. NEW INFORMATION Most recently, Steve was honored by his peers being awarded the "Distinguished Service Award" through UAMPS. This award recognizes individuals for their many years of service and commitment and contributions to public power. In addition, Steve was awarded the "James D. Donovan Achievement Award", which honors individuals commitment to the electric utility industry and public power through APPA. Steve has left a mark on the electric industry and this community. His legacy can be summed up best by what people say about Steve: • "Steve's ability to get worked -up, his greater ability to express himself with a good laugh from his gut, and most importantly his sincere and deep passion for public power and service to our community"; • "Steve's good nature, sense of humor, and infectious laugh"; • "Steve's passion for public power and electric utility service. Steve is an all around great guy"; • "Steve has a very heavy and stressful load to bear, however, he often is heard laughing, and what a great laugh he has"; • "Steve is the type of leader you'd follow anywhere. He is passionate about serving the District's interest, works tirelessly for what he believes in, and always has your back"; and • "Steve is a man who cares deeply about the District, employees and customers. Steve is a dedicated leader with a passion to do the right thing. He is generous with his time and knowledge, actively helping others to rise to their potential and succeed in their work at the District". 4. FISCAL IMPACT There is no fiscal impact associated with this item. 5. RECOMMENDATION Adopt Resolution 2018-16 commending Steve Hollabuagh for his many years of service. Michael D. Holley General Manager Resolution No. 2018 = 16 Commending Stephan Hollabaugh for His Service WHEREAS, Stephen "Steve" Hollabaugh has been an employee of the District since April 19941 and WHEREAS, during his tenure of employment at the District, Steve has been an invaluable asset to the District, its customers, and the community; and WHEREAS Steve's responsibilities have included development of Truckee's power supply, transmission infrastructure, operations and management of the Districts transmission and distribution facilities; and WHEREAS, Steve managed a superior reliable system in the severe environmental climate of Truckee, and WHEREAS, Steve has successfully held the position of Power Supply, Electric Utility Manager, and Assistant General Manager; and WHEREAS, Steve's commitment to the electric utility field has contributed to the District's success; and WHEREAS, Steve has been a trusted member of the Executive Team at the District and his knowledge and advice has been valued by staff; and WHEREAS, Steve has earned the respect, admiration, and loyalty of District employees and his peers in the industry by his superior knowledge and passion in public power; and WHEREAS, Steve has announced his retirement to be effective on August 30, 2018; and WHEREAS, the Board of Directors wishes to express its appreciation and gratitude for the performance of Stephan Hollabaugh for his many years of service to the District and its customers. NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE TRUCKEE DONNER PUBLIC UTILITY DISTRICT THAT: • Steve Hollabaugh be commended for his exemplary contribution to the success of the Truckee Donner PUD, and exceptional service to the public power industry. • The best wishes for a successful and happy retirement. PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of Directors at a meeting duly called and held within the District on the first day of August, 2018 by the following roll call vote: AYES: Directors: Aguera, Bender, Ellis, Vice President Warmerdam, and President Laliotis.
