Home My WebLink About13 Commend Julie Nelson for her RetirementAgendaItem#9?TRUCKEEDONNERPublicUtilityDistrictCONSENTTo:BoardofDirectorsFrom:BrianWrightDate:September05,2018Subject:ConsiderationofResolution2018-17,CommendingJulieNelsonforHerYearsofService1.WHYTHISMATTERISBEFORETHEBOARDThismatterinvolvestheadoptionofResolution2018-17,commendingJulieNelsonforheryearsofservicetotheDistrictontheoccasionofherretirement.2.HISTORYJulieNelsonbeganhercareerwiththeDistrictonOctober10,2005asaWorkOrderSpecialist.Julieassumedseveralrolesprocessingworkordersforboththeelectricandwaterutilities,eventuallytransitioningtotheConservationDepartment.InJanuaryof2011,JuliejoinedthewaterdistributioncrewasalicensedWaterServiceTechnician.AsWaterServiceTechnician,JulieworkedhandsonintheoperationandmaintenanceoftheDistrict’swaterdistributionsystem,gainingknowledgeandskillsetscriticaltothehighlevelofserviceprovidedbyourstaff.InMarchof2015,JuliewasappointedSeniorWaterQualityTechnician/Inspector.Julie’snewpositionrequiredhertoquicklyexpandherknowledgeoflocal,stateandfederalwaterqualitystandardsinordertoeffectivelysatisfytheDistrict’swiderangeofregulatorycompliancerequirements.Inher13yearsofservicewiththeDistrict,Juliehastakenonseveraldifferentrolesandchallengedherselfwithincreasingresponsibility.HermostnotableaccomplishmentshavebeencenteredaroundherintegralroleinmaintainingtheDistrict’scompliancewithCaliforniaStateWaterResourcesControlBoardwaterqualityregulationsduringaperiodoftremendousfluxanduncertaintywithstaterequirements.Throughoutthesechallenges,JuliehasmaintainedDistrictcompliancewithallwaterqualitystandards,whilecontinuouslyengagingourcustomerbasewithanyconcernstheymighthave.Inadditiontoherregularlyassignedresponsibilities,overthelastfewyearsJuliealsoservedastheWaterDepartmentsIT/Technologyliaison,attendinginterdepartmentalstakeholdermeetingswiththeITgroup,andprovidingassistanceandtrainingtohercoworkerswithnewtechnologies.3.NEWINFORMATIONJuliehasannouncedherretirementtobeeffectiveOctober13,2018.JuliehasbeenanintegralpartoftheDistrict’sWaterDepartmentandhasgainedtherespectofherco-workersasatrustedteammember.ShehasalwaysrepresentedtheWaterDepartmentanditscrewinthebestlight,providingahelpinghandwhenevershecan,andcontinuouslychallenqinqherself.WesincerelythankJulieforallofherworkwith13 theDistrict,andwishherandherfamilytheverybestintheirfutureendeavors.Attachment1isthedraftresolutioncommendingJulieforherservicetotheDistrict4.FISCALIMPACTThereisnofiscalimpactassociatedwiththisagendaitem.5.RECOMMENDATIONAdoptResolution2018-17,commendingJulieNelsonforhermanyyearsofservice./zMichaelD.HalleyGeneralManager/WaterUtilityDirector ResolutionNo.2018-17r1(TRUCKEEDONNERPublicUtilityDistrictCommendingJulieNelsonforHerServiceWHEREAS,JulieNelsonhasbeenanemployeeoftheDistrictsinceOctober2005;andWHEREAS,duringhertenureofemploymentattheDistrict,JuliehasbeenaninvaluableassettotheDistrict,itscustomers,andthecommunity;andWHEREASJulie’sresponsibilitieshaveincludedvariousrolesinadministrativeservices,operationandmaintenanceoftheDistrict’swaterutilitydistributionsystem,andensuringthedeliveryofsafedrinkingwatertothecommunity;andWHEREAS,JuliehasmaintainedtheDistrict’scompliancewithalllocal,stateandfederaldrinkingwaterregulationsinacontinuouslychangingregulatoryenvironment,andWHEREAS,JuliehassuccessfullyheldthepositionofWorkOrderSpecialist,ConservationDepartmentClerk,WaterServiceTechnician,andSeniorWaterQualityTechnician/Inspector;andWHEREAS,Julie’scommitmenttoexcellenceinwaterutilitymaintenanceandoperationshascontributedtoDistrict’ssuccess;andWHEREAS,duringhertenure,Juliehasservedasmentor,investinginthesuccessofhercoworkers;andWHEREAS,Juliehasearnedtherespect,admiration,andloyaltyofDistrictemployeesandherpeersintheTruckeecommunity;andWHEREAS,JuliehasannouncedherretirementtobeeffectiveonOctober11,2018;andWHEREAS,theBoardofDirectorswishestoexpressitsappreciationandgratitudefortheperformanceofJulieNelsonandforhermanyyearsofservicetotheDistrictanditscustomers.NOWTHEREFOREBEITRESOLVEDBYTHEBOARDOFDIRECTORSOFTHETRUCKEEDONNERPUBLICUTILITYDISTRICTTHAT:•JulieNelsonbecommendedforherexemplarycontributiontothesuccessoftheTruckeeDonnerPUD,andexceptionalservicetothecommunity’sdrinkingwatersupply.•Thebestwishesforasuccessfulandhappyretirement.PASSEDANDADOPTEDbytheBoardofDirectorsatameetingdulycalledandheldwithintheDistrictonthefirstdayofAugust,2018bythefollowingrollcallvote:Directors:Aguera,Bender,Ellis,VicePresidentWarmerdam,andPresidentLaliotis.MichaelD.Holley,P.E.,GeneralManagerAYES:NOES:ABSENT:None.None.TRUCKEEDONNERPUBLICUTILITYDISTRICTTonyLaliotis,PresidentATTEST:ShannaD.Kuhlemier,CMC,DistrictClerk
