HomeMy WebLinkAbout9 Resolution 2019-03 Aministration Buiding Remodel ProjectAqendaItem#9TRUCKEEDONNERPublicUtilityDistrictCONSENTTo:BoardofDirectorsFrom:ShannaD.Kuhiemier,CMCDate:February06,2019Subject:ConsiderationtoAdoptResolution2019-03toClose-Outthe—AdministrationBuildingRemodelProject1.WHYTHISMATTERISBEFORETHEBOARDTheDistrict’sAdministrationBuildingRemodelProjectiscomplete.AresolutionacceptingtheprojectascompleteandfilingofthenoticeofcompletionrequiresBoardapproval.2.HISTORYThecurrentDistrictofficecomplexwasdesignedandbuiltintheearlytomid1980’s,withveryminorchangesandoccasionalpaintoverthelast30years.In2016,theDistricthiredFringeStudiotoworkwithstaffonanewdesignforthelobbyandCustomerServiceareas.EvenwiththeadvancesintechnologytheDistrictdesiredtomaintainaone-on-onerelationshipwithitscustomers.Thenewdesignincorporatedchangesintechnology,staff’sinteractionwithcustomers,AmericanswithDisabilityAct,thesafetyandsecurityofDistrictstaffandcustomers.InJanuaryof2018,theDistrictAdministrationImprovementProject,wasputouttobid.TheDistrictreceivedthreebidswithREMConstructionInc.,ofParadise,CAthelowbidder.TheBoardawardedthecontracttoREMattheMarch7,2018,Boardmeetingforanamountnottoexceed$1,100,000.DemolitionbeganonApril4,2018.StaffidentifiedanadditionalscopeofworktoinstallsecuritywallsupstairsatthelandingandintotheGeneralManagement/Engineeringareas.OnJuly18,2018,theBoardapprovedthischangeorderasthecontractorwascurrentlyonsite,andtheproposednewworkwassimilarinnature.Withthecontractoronsitetherewerenomobilizationcharges,andREM’sstaffhastheskillsandqualificationstoperformthework.Lastly,asthecrewisalreadyhereandfamiliarwiththesiteandTownrequirementstherewouldbelessdisruptiontostaffandcustomers.3.NEWINFORMATIONDuringthecourseoftheprojecttherewereconsernsregardingchangeorders,asthebuildingwas30yersold.Todate,thereare16changeordersthatincluded:.Leakingwaterpipesintheceiling;.Electricalandlowvoltagereceptables;
