AgendaItem#13TRUCKEEDONNERPublicUtilityDistrictCONSENTTo:BoardofDirectorsFrom:StephenMooreDate:July17,2019Subject:ConsiderationtoAdopttheWildfireMitigationPlan1.WHYTHISMATTERISBEFORETHEBOARDThisitemisbeforetheBoardforapprovaloftheWildfireMitigationPlan(WMP)asrequiredbySenateBill901(SB901).2.HISTORYStaffpresentedawildfiremitigationoverviewworkshopattheBoard’sregularmeetingonMarch6,2019,followedbyanotherworkshoptodiscussthedraftWMPonJune5,2019.Theseworkshopsdiscussedoperationalpoliciesandpracticestoprevent,prepareforandrespondtowildfireevents.AtthattimestaffrecommendedproceedingwiththeadoptionoftheWMPattheJuly17th,2019Boardmeeting.ThemandateofSB901requirestheadoptionofaWMPbeforeJanuary1,2020.DistrictstaffarebringingtheWMPtotheBoardforapprovalwhilecontinuingtopreparefortheupcomingfireseason.3.NEWINFORMATIONStaffhascompletedpreperationoftheWMP(Attachment1)inaccordancewiththerequirementsofSB901andshareditwiththefollowingkeylocalagencieswhoweregiventheopportunitytocomment:.TruckeeFireProtectionDistrict;.TownofTruckee(OES);.NavadaCounty(QES);.PlacerCounty(QES);and.TahoeDonnerAssociationForestryDepartment.NorthernCaliforniaPowerAgency(NCPA)iscurrentlyacceptingproposalsfromqualifiedvendorstoperformthirdpartyreviewonitsmembersWMP.Oncethisprocessiscomplete,staffwillprocureaqualifiedthirdpartytoreviewtheWMPtoensurecompliancewithSB901.AnyproposedchangestotheplanwillbebroughtbeforetheBoardandpresentedbythethirdpartyvendorpriortoDecember31,2019.TheDistrictwillreviewandaudittheimplementationoftheWMP.Duringthisprocess,internallytrackedstatisticswillbeweighedtovalidatetheeffectivenessoftheWMPanddatafromotherElectricownedutilitieswillbereviewed.TheWMPwillbebroughtbacktotheBoardforreviewandapprovalannually.
